BC2 will not launch

When I click on (or right click and launch) bad company 2 from steam I get a brief white box on the screen and then nothing. I've double checked , all drivers are up to date, machine meets recommended specs. Anyone else getting this problem?

AMD Athlon II x4 640 processor @ 2.8ghz
VIA HD Audio with the latest drivers

Well, try making a shortcut and lauching from it, does it work?
