Idea for a valve next move...

Just an idea , a valve console (like PS3 or xbox) this would be great and since they already have the essential core program "steam" it would be easy to have a store like xbox and ps3 have , and chat , profiles and more. what do you think of this 'idea'

Do you mean a valve created console? Or steam on other consoles? The former would be highly unlikely and so would the latter. But the pic of the citadel looks cool.

i think a valve created console would be good. they already have everything they need and a trusted big community.

But the company isn't large enough to support one. You have companies like Sony that are really advanced in technology as a whole that licensing games is the least of their problems, and with Microsoft which pretty much standardized the home computer.

Valve makes games. That's it. Sure, Nintendo only just makes games, but that's 2+ decades worth of revenue and reputation. Nintendo's also a juggernaut in that it branches out into several other companies and marketing. Valve has a core team of about 40 people per game (assumption!!!) and has no experience developing a console. Hell, Blizzard would've made one by now were it profitable a venture.

Would a Source console be cool? Ehhh... Iffy. I like the computer because it's got the natural ability to update instead of a lot of crap of hooking to the interwebs, so we would have to by a new console per major upgrade unless they somehow make it modular which would probably kill memory. What I think it boils down to is the games though. Have you ever seen a sloppy game come out of Valve? You think they want to push out massive projects so quickly? No. Therefore there wouldn't be enough games to support the console.

I definately would not buy it unless they revamp, you know, everything about consoles we've experienced. Besides, making one would deprive from Episode 3 :)
