One day, I tried to make Garry's mod into window mode to multitask, but it crashed with an error message. Now, whenver I start up Garry's mod, it says "Preparing to launch Garry's mod" The box closes and garry's mod does not start.

I tried that twice, and I also
1. reinstalled steam
2. verified cache
3. defragmented

Do any other source games work on it? What are your system specs and operating system?

Yes. I play other games like Half-Life 2: Deathmatch almost everyday. My specs don't matter, it was working before.

Everyone is asking stupid questions. I have used garry's mod before, so it won't have to do with my specs. It is on my side, not steam's side because I reinstalled steam and Gmod, same effect. What could it be? :o:o:o:o:o:o:o

I noticed that Gmod has taken some time to start up and load levels for a few months now. Its something to do with one of the updates I believe.

Garry's mod doesn't start up AT ALL for me!
I am having issues also, Gmod ran great like every thing else, tried reinstalling, didnt work, i tried debugging the process, hl2.exe does start, but it seems to fail after trying a unknown function in tier0.dll, but no dump is made, and no error code is given

If I look really carefully, I can see hl2.exe start up for a split second but then close just as fast as it came.

If you download mods, allot of the time, they can SEVEARLY screw up Gmod. I have this strong, dual card rig that can run almost ANYTHING smooth as butter - I download the wrong mods or install them the wrong way, and BAM! My framerate goes down to 10-20FPS. I'd say uninstall garries mod, then go to your steam folder and get rid of all of your garry's mod stuff before reinstalling. My best bet is that it's probably some screwed up LUA or something of that matter.
