DoD Runs slowly/crashes on Dod_Caen

dod_Caen has always been my favorite map but now with a new computer it runs very slowly or even crashes on this map. It is very strange, because i can play source and other games flawlessly but it runs slowly in this game.

I've tried to delete everything called "gamma" in the config but this only helped me creating my own game but not joining a server. I think what is causing this problem are the explosions in the middle of the map, because when i create my own game it runs well at first, but when i walk over to the middle it starts to runs slowly and then crashes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Update drivers, try setting special effects to low

`cl_particlefx 0` in console

If your not using XP search Support

Try a fresh install by renaming your "day of defeat" folder (you can rename this back later and lose none of your files), now when you run dod it will create a new clean install.

If all else fails use `developer 2` in console to see whats causing your problem.

Don't worry i fixed it now.

I read somewhere that you needed to use OpenGL instead of software but first time i tried it the game shut down. Now i tried it with all the right resolution for my computer and set it to widescreen and tried to use openGL again and now it worked!

I also found out that now the Steam overlay also works again :)
