I for one will be enraged if the connections between Portal and Halflife are played down. They are already known to take place in the same universe. It is dumb to just seperate the games. GLaD0S and Chell would both be important characters in that universe and so come to the attention of at the very least the Gman.

It isn't really an "if" thing at this point. According to what I have heard, Valve has stated flat-out that they want to downplay the connection. I am fine with this.

They also stated that Chell would be important in the overall scheme of the Half Life universe and would meet characters from it.

I hope Gordon's suit can keep him from aging, then...

The Gman puts Gordon in stasis.

That was over 2 years ago! At that time she was going to be an important character but that was then. This is now. Why get so upset it's not like they pulled a character we knew out of HL2 and stranded them in the future. Alyx's daddy was going to be Cubbage and that didn't happen either. There are a lot of things like the factory with kids that got pulled over the course of development. The Borealis existed before Portal. Nothing has been lost. Someone else will fill Chells former place and do whatever she was going to do in Ep3 it that character is still even in the story. It's no big deal.

Imagine how unsatisfying that would be, though. Episode three: Kick combine ♥♥♥, celebrate, get put into stasis and then one of two things occurs. Brand new threat hundreds of years in the future, within the same episode (in other words no satisfying plot resolution,) Or the game ends with you put into stasis, and then you get to meet Gordon hundreds of years later as Chell, but don't really know why Gordon is there, and don't get to play as him. Either way just strikes me as being a tad silly just to let the characters meet.

Except Chell and GLaD0S still exist in the world. And somehow they never come to the attention of anyone. And it isn't like Apature Science is a small place.

Did you play Half Life 1?
Well incase you did not let me tell you what happened. The Gman shows up and he puts you in stasis or teleports you to Zen where you fight and die.
I never said Gordon should meet Chell. Considering that both are mute characters. Them meeting would probably be a bad idea. That does not mean the stories couldn't be easily interconnected.

I doubt many people are in the mood to travel around with all the Zen life loose and later the Combine meanies hanging about. Survival tends to squash curiosity. Have faith young grasshopper!:) All will work out fine. You will see.
At this point of time we know little. We know what was said 2+ years ago we also know what was just recently said about not building on the connection between the games any more. When Ep3 comes out in 10 years:rolleyes: they may have changed their minds once again.

Yes, I played HL1, and I still contend that if Gordon is put into stasis it is going to be at the very end of Episode 3. Probably just before the credits roll. Assuming that is the case, the only interconnection between the games that makes sense is from Chell's perspective. The Gman could put all the other characters from HL2 in stasis, I guess, and Chell could meet them in the future then. That seems a little far-fetched, though.

I never said it wouldn't be at the end. I have no problem with them not developing the connection for HL2 E3.
I'm saying a connection eventually needs to be established. Like in Half Life 3
It is likely Alex will also be put in stasis(Maybe in place of Gordon). She is already being used by the Gman.

I won't be enraged, but I will be saddened and disappointed. Because the companies and background possible between Black Mesa and Aperture are really fun and complicated. Plus, >_< I've already got plenty of fanfic and rpg action on it. lol.

I don't see why chell is important at all.
She is not smart.
She is not a scientist.
She is not a doctor.
She doesn't even have a full time job.
All she accomplished was being manipulated by GLaDOS to "kill" her.
Sadly for GLaDOS (if she wants to die) she cant because of mandatory backups or possibly to GLaDOS's benefit if she wanted to be reborn.
Though the G-man seems to like unlikely hero's (gordon and shepard) that he can drop into difficult situations and hope they just try to save themselves completing whatever his objective is.
After all putting the right person in the wrong time can make all the differense

I would say fighting GlaD0S is a full time job.

There is no evidence GLaD0S wanted Chell to kill her. She specificly is angry at Chell for doing it in Portal2 and she says Chell broke her heart. Chell was not manipulated into killing GLaD0S. She did it on her own.

GLaDOS says alot of things.
meh seems like she wanted chell to kill her.
The morality core she acted like she didn't know what it was.
The danger sarcasm cruelty and condescending attitude all made at least ME want to kill glados personally. I don't see any other reason she did things like making you kill the companion cube or making fun of you being adopted other than to piss you off.

I'd say that Chell IS quite smart. She might not have been a scientist, full time employee or whatever else, but she certainly was smart enough to learn how to use the items she was given (or found) and at least try to escape. Of course, no matter what, GLaDOS will say that this was what she wanted, no matter the outcome good or bad.
