I honestly despise the camera control setups...anyway to change em to be completely controlled by the mouse? you know...lik ein every other strategy game?

What exactly do you mean? Or what exactly do you want to do.

Well the fact that you will constantly be alternating between close up for fine work and strategic view generally means its pointless bothering to change the camera. They are perfectly fine for what they are made for, looking at the views and combat.

Every time you zoom to strategic mode, the game resets the camera. As a good commander should be checking it every few seconds to see if there is any situation of concern it is pointless to change angles to see the work differently.

Thus space serves its purpose fine. To be helpful however you could try mapping space to one of the mouse buttons however so when you press the space bar it does the usual order + allows camera control. Pressing F1 during a game brings up a list of hotkey options.

AzureEmmanuel: No.

DrSuperGood: Someone doesn't like the camera controls - a user interface preference. You running in to say they're perfect doesn't count for anything at all, unless your objective was to increase your post count.

I was not saying they were perfect (I said they were perfectly fine which means fine), I was saying that they are adiquit (fine) for what they are needed for. Especially considering that strategic view resets the camera angles meaning that any change of view will usually be temporary.

The only times I ever really messed around with the camera was when a player went mass nukes and started to physically nuke everything of the enemy. With 1-2 explosions going off per second it was just nice to pan around and watch the destruction as we had as good as won anyway.

I am interested to know if there is more of a tactical or skill benifit of using the camera for other reasons.

AzureEmmanuel: No.Why do you say no? We don't even know yet what he actually wants.

It is useful if your trying to find engineers in a tiht base or building near a cliff or something (to see the side of the cliff obscured by the camera default)

@AzureEmmanuel: There is a way to do it, what you want to do is grab Autohotkey (http://www.autohotkey.com/) then put the following in an AutoHotkey script:

#ifWinActive Supreme Commander 2
MButton::Space
#IfWinActive

That will remap the space bar to the middle mouse button and allow you to use that.

Sounded to me like he wanted to change them (keybindings) to be completely controlled by the mouse. You didn't understand the request, but that wasn't true for everyone, was it?

Sounded to me like he wanted to change them (keybindings) to be completely controlled by the mouse. You didn't understand the request, but that wasn't true for everyone, was it?He made a reference to "every other strategy game" though, and in many other RTS you control panning via the middle mouse button + mouse movement, and you control the tilt via a keyboard hotkey + mouse movement and you can pan the camera on the edges of the screen. And all this is possible in SupCom/FA/SupCom2.

Then I thought maybe he doesn't like the fact, that the camera resets when he zooms out, but since he said "like in every other strategy game" that can't be the case, since other RTS do not have the strategic zoom.

I was wondering if it could be changed like other strategy games work "hold M2 and move your mouse to change the view angle, etc".

Sometimes I like to be lazy and use only the mouse with other strategy games let me. Here I have to hold space and move the mouse.

yes its just for laziness sake but was just wondering if ir could be arranged.

Thanks for the answers.

My english sucks in the mornings apparently.

Since modding is not enabled yet (at least not for online play), you'll have to do with what RCIX posted.

Your "other strategy games" comment is ambiguous as I pointed out, since other strategy games also handle it the same way as Supreme Commander ;). The last RTS that I played which had the view tilt & turn on the middle mouse button, was Earth 2150. All the other RTS games I play pan the view with the middle mouse button.

(Not that I would really need either of those features.)
