Does it work?
I dont mind a work around like setting it to compatibility but at the end do the quake games work, especially quake 1!

Yep, they work perfect, especially if you use my Ultimate Patches for Quake 1 and 2. I use Windows 7 x64 myself and they run pretty well.

So Quake 1 and 2 needs patches before these work on Win7 x64? You say your patches? no official?

They do work fine without but the patches that I made greatly enhance the experience with being able to play the soundtracks, use widescreen resolutions, play with enhanced graphics and controls.
Again, they work out of the box but the patches help make them better.

There ya go. I tested and made the patches on Windows 7 x64 and can guarantee that they work perfectly. The only issue that I've come across with anyone is driver issues with Nvidia cards but it should of been fixed with the last update I made.

I installed everything. Upon launching Quake or GLQuake the music starts and plays fine but I have 2 fps if that.
Windows 7 x64. Tried all compatibility modes.

If it's playing the music fine and it's working then the reason you'd be getting such low fps is if you set the configuration too high in the options screen.
What are your computer specifications?
To be honest though, I'm just after installing it on my netbook, MSI Wind with a 1.6GHz Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM and a Intel GMA950 intergrated GPU running Windows 7 and I was getting over 80fps with the default config that I included so I doubt that there's many people out there who couldn't run Quake this well.

You're right, I should have posted more specs.
Suffice to say, Quake should NOT be a problem here.

Yep, definitely shouldn't be a problem.
It seems to be a common problem with Nvidia and OpenGL based games like Quake.
The best info I've found is here

Sorry but can't really help you anymore.
I don't have a Nvidia card in my desktop and posting here from my netbook.

Definitely a great patch, but you'd have a heck of a time trying to find a server running KMQuake. You'll generally get an error, like the server is running v3.19 or v2.00. Seeing as how my computer can't run Quake 1 & 2 without crashing, I have to use KMQuake, but it's only good for single player unless there's a way to get it to connect to servers running different versions of the game.

Thanks, so there were 4 files right? 1 for Quake, 1 for each of the 2 expansions, and 1 for Quake 2? At least those were the 4 files I downloaded! + Rep.

Yep, that's right. If you have a Nvidia graphics card though take care to read through the thread I made in regards to Nvidia cards, it should be just a few threads below this one.
