That's the question. I have some extra cash and after looking posts and reviews I was wondering if this game was:

1st: worth the money.
2nd: Online still active.
3rd: worth buying at full prize.

Please, gimme some answers, include some opinions about the DLC... or maybe suggestions about ohter games.

Discard:
C&C 4
Assasins creed 2
Bioshock 2

1: I'd say yeah. If you can get it on sale then do so. Its debatable how worth it is at full price, it depends on the individual and what type of gameplay thier into. If you enjoy farming bosses and chests (chests without the DLC, bosses with) for better loot once you've beaten the game in both playthroughs, then yes. Think of bordelands as diablo with guns.

2: Yes. If you get some friends to buy the game its alot more fun than playing in pubs. But regardless, theres plenty of folks playing online.

3: As mentioned in #1, whether its worth full price is debatable. I got it for free cause a friend bought a 4 pack when I was broke.

I don't own any of the DLC because my friends haven't bothered to. Once the DRM is removed from Moxxi and Dr Zed I'll probably buy all 3 though, whether my friends do or not. Note: The most recent DLC has no DRM or install limits, the first 2 do, however Gearbox is working on removing the DRM from those 2 as well.

Suggestions about other games... umm... I like and play many other games as well as Borderlands? You're asking for something a bit too open ended with that question. Do you want newer games? Older games that are still better than most of the newer stuff? FPS, RTS, MMORPG, RPG? Its hard to make suggestions without knowing what you're looking for.

I think its worth the money although i'm not sure how much it is now, £15-20 would be a good price

ive never tried online i just play solo and have over 100 hours in that

dlc, the best is easily knoxx, dr zed is ok but short and moxi is meant to be terrible. i think you only need to buy knoxx

other games i reccomend would stalker 1 2 and 3 :)

It's easily worth the money if you know someone who plays or you're really into farming loot in singleplayer. Online is passable. Not a huge selection but enough if you just want to pub.

Any indication IF Borderlands will go down in price? £30 on steam!
Then again SecureROM with retail editions...fail

ive been playing since release, usually with a friend
its a good casual game

knoxx is really good and zombie island isnt bad
moxxi was quite boring (imo)

online seems fairly active, tho i only really play with my friend.

I just bought this a couple of days ago, and i feel it was worth the price. Had fun with it soo far. I bought AvP3 and it turned out to be abit of a let-down, so i was looking for something else...

I don't have the DLCs yet. The online play seem pretty active also. Don't have any real problems looking for a game, or having people join mine.

Would have been cooler at $30, but i'm getting my $50 out of it.

1. Yes, if you have friends who play it.

2. See answer 1. As with L4D/2, I only play with friends.

3. Yes, if you answered positively to #1. Otherwise, wait for a drop.

Honestly, I wouldn't play the game through more than once, if it weren't for friends. I don't like playing this online with random people, since there's no better way to organize. Because of this, my entire experience revolves around friends. I've really enjoyed it, and recently started playing again.

As far as the DLC goes, here are my opinions:

Zombie Island of Dr. Ned:
Pass. There are some funny parts, but it's undeniably the weakest link.

Mad Moxxie's Underdome Riot:
Maybe buy. Worth it for the item bank and challenge factor. The arena battles take long enough to be exhausting, but they're challenging and can be very fun with friends.

Armory of General Knoxx:
Buy, buy, buy - Worth every penny. This adds lots of content worth experiencing, even if it didn't raise the level cap. (which it does) The going back and forth on highways can be a little tedious, but it's otherwise exceptional. It's almost more like an expansion, really. There's also plenty of funny dialogue in the quest NPC chatter.

It's now on sale for $25, defintely worth it at that price.

It's a great game. However, I also do not own the DLC because they tried to slip some DRM in my drink.

So the Dr Ned DLC has SecuROM, but the main game does not?

I know it does not metion any 3rd party DRM on the main page, but that information has been incorrect before.

Here look to the right under game details, it's in green writing:

They tried slipping it into the DRM after everyone bought the game. Like people wouldn't figure it out. Also, like people wouldn't be pissed. Seriously, who the hell runs these companies? Not very wise business men I see. Everyone has a degree in IT but no one knows how to run a business.

Dr. Ned and Mad Moxi have SecuRom while the original game and Knoxx do not.

I´d crab it for 24,99€ deal. Which is now on steam.
Bought it year ago in 40€ deal.
Atleast 200 hours of fun. I don´t see any reason why not play this game after reaching level cap.
No troubles getting quality online gamers filled in your server as well.

If you had some friends to play with it would be worth it.

DLC preference in order:

General Knoxx
Zombie Island
Moxxi
