I don't have it on steam, but we can still add one another. I've been playing since I got this earlier this week, and have a mid level character that I almost want to abandon.

Let me explain: The game has been out for a while, and most people who bought the game have finished, some of them repeatedly. What happens to new players is that older players will come in and try to help you out. This on the surface isn't a terrible thing. However, when they know the objectives and finish your quests repeatedly while you're hunting for the thing, it gets more than a little annoying. It's like you're not even playing, you're just helping in the fights. And watch out for significantly higher level players, they'll have your quest done before you even know what you're doing (particularly lilith characters). In most cases it isn't deliberately malicious, but it does take the game out of the game (at least from my point of view). Also, some will actively grief you by fighting you when you're significantly lower level, or far under-equipped.

I've made it fairly far in the basic game, to nearly level thirty. But most of my games are getting ruined by higher level players. Apparently, once you finish, and make a new character, you get to keep all your old stuff, which makes them ridiculously powerful. I want to start over, with a new cast of players, so that I can actually enjoy this game. I do like it, but the way things are right now I need some new players to start out with.

Great, I have one other from the gearbox forums so that makes three out of four. my in game name is theubersmurf. add me in game, I don't have this via steam so adding me via steam won't work. Come over to the gearbox forums. here (http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=103150).

I just bought this game and it's installing now. I'd like to play sometime over this weekend since everyone at school is going home and I'll be all alone :(

OP, I think what you're really asking for is 'adult' players who are playing with a lower level character.

As you pointed out often they are trying to be overly helpful by thinking you want to be power leveled up while they do every thing. They think this way because more often than not, kids their age do things a bit backward, they want all the power and weapons ASAP before they learn the game. After they max out their character, then they go back and learn\play the game when they are more-or-less invincible. It doesn't really occur to them that others might want to learn the game going from start to finish. :)
