right off the bat. the single player is not too much different than the original Mount and Blade. the changes made are not so much improvement to what was there before, but rather new content to make the game feel more dynamic and reactive to your actions.

the graphics are better, but only marginally better. slightly increased texture resolutions and new lighting effects are about all thats different.

combat and game play is still pretty much the same from the original. battlefields are still random with no new surprises on the field. and with all of this combined the game feels more like M&B 1.5 than the next in the series. (so expansion, i think that term is proper, anyone calling it M&B2 is misleading)

but i want to make one thing clear, this expansion is better than the original game. the elements that were there before are still there (as i said, not so much improvement, but rather new stuff to do) and work pretty much the same, but missions are clearer (i cant remember doing a mission in the original for the life of me) battle is clearer, its easier to figure out what NPC's are thinking and how to deal with them.

This is all on the single player aspect.
so if you stopped playing Mount & Blade after a short while, or didn't like the first one. i would not recommend this game.
BUT
if you are still playing the first game, or haven't play M&B before this game is perfect for you.

Single Player is vastly... vastly different. New Map, New Missions, New mechanics, New control, New weapons, New models, New graphics, New animations, More fluid combat, New combat mechanics, Smarter AI.

Romance, Unit Formations, Control Factions, Become a King and Manage your Kingdom.

There is just so much more added to Warband than Classic M&B.
