I play Mount And Blade with some of the better mods, one mod is the Cresent and cross and I play the graphics update.

Now I could care less about the multiplayer. So my question is the single player addon actually sounds like a step down from Cresent and cross to me. Yeah few more features but lets face it sounds really like a 30 Dollar update to a game that has already been done by mods years ago.

what say you?

Just think of it this way, the graphics update to Mount and Blade Warband will carry over to even better graphics with mods FOR Warband. Right now, you're MnB is probably better than Warband vanilla, just like most mods for MnB were better than Vanilla MnB, but once the mods start to roll out for Warband, a new level of quality will be reached.

Mods may have made Mount and Blade the best it could be, for that engine anyways. Warband is on an updated engine, and the mods for it will most likely be able to show it off even further than any other mod has been able to with the old one.

I personally think the game is worth it completely.

Here's my suggestion though, wait around before you buy it, check out the mods once the module system is out, and once convinced then buy it. To be honest the single player alone isn't better than some of the mods for MnB, although I am enjoying it. I say you should wait though, because the module system for Warband isn't out yet, and it also gives you a chance to catch a sale if they have one, and view the quality of upcoming mods before you buy.

If you don't care about multiplayer and you also don't care about fancy graphics then it's hard to advice you to buy the expansion right now. So, wait for it to be fixed and mods to be released. It's vanilla MnB on steroids after all. Same game, better looks, bit more depth, more complex combat and multiplayer. You'll like it once you decide to purchase it. Maybe right now isn't the best moment for you.

This, eventually the community will start to migrate towards the updated game, so, if you're strongly into the modding part of the game, wait and see.

^This.

Most certainly worth $30 IMHO, and I am VERY cheap! Just look at my posts on the Metro 2033 Forums here!:D But I can see waiting for a price drop if you are more into the Mods than the Native Game. When the Mods start flowing it's going to be Epic! I'm loving it so far, but I'm using "Warband Battle Sizer" and "TweakMB(Warband)" Mods from M&B Repository. They already have a few Mods out for Warband.

I will echo the posters above me, M&B is not about graphics at all, so if you know you are not going to play the multi then wait for a weekend deal, by that time the MODs are probably starting to see light.

After playing the game for over 60 hours. Its a lot better than the original Mount & Blade. It's far more entertaining to me than than M&B and its mods. There is a lot more to it than simple multiplayer and graphical overhaul mods graphics that people don't seem to understand. Perhaps they arent playing the game enough to see the huge differences. Warband is far superior to its original, the native has been completely remade and finished, rather than left in its unfinished state as in M&B.

It is well worth it.

So far I have created my own Kingdom, and have destroyed the Nords. Made my companions lords, have captured numerous lords and even kings a few times here and there. Usually they will pay me around 10,000-20,000 denars ransom for the king lol.

I also don't care about multiplayer. I would say the single player is worth it because it yet again introduces something that I cannot find in other games. Dynamic elements like politics and possibly a real world economy.

Remember how when you captured lands, you had to be really lucky in order to get the land? Now in Warband, you can influence Lords to vote for you in receiving those lands. Lords can defect to other factions. There are many more stuff, but I haven't explored them yet.

I'm still not sure how the economy works. It feels like it depends on supply and demand. The in-game notes say that grain can be converted to ale and bread. If the game can implement something like this, that would make it incredible.

So single player is definitely worth it for me, once they fix all the bugs.

I bought it the other day and I am now regretting not taking extra PTO.

When you say you're not interested in multiplayer, does that also mean you're not interested in co-op multiplayer, as in, you and friends vs a bunch of bots in battle?
