The first activation was ok but I'm unable to signup to GFWL so I can't play the game I paid!

Each time I try to login to GFWL, I have a windows that say my profile need to be update but the update don't progress and crash after few minutes (error 0x80151911). I suppose my profile is ok because I can login on GFWL homepage. WTF with this fuc#ing GFWL!?

Steam guys; please make the need of GFWL for a game more visible (a big logo for ex.) so I'll not buy those games anymore.

I've had a similar issue with GTAIV recently. This GFWL garbage is exactly that. WTF I have to login to play a saved game is ridiculous! I recently did a fresh install of Win7 (had XP) and honestly it took less time to install the OS than to setup and get going with GFWL.

Now, to answer your problem like the one I had, I went to http://www.gamesforwindows.com/ and downloaded the latest version available, which applied the update, rather than wait for failsoft to do it's thing in game. I could then start GTAIV, login to GFWL and start playing the game.

As the guy above me said, directly download GFWL update outside the game to make sure you get the complete update as for steam including some sort of logo, i doubt that will happen because windows don't want people using it without permission and based from your comment if you know a game is GFWL you won't buy it, they are less likely to include it. Best advice, expecially when buying an older game such as this, do some extra research to see what potential problems you might face.

when the program doesn't work that should be the first thought tbh.
the MAKERS website.
in this case Squeenix/Rocksteady or since its the GFWL issue, the GFWL site.

when will people learn that the RETAILER can't help with this stuff?

hope its working, and frankly once it is it runs fine and dandy, as well as is easy to ignore.
naysayers can say what they want, but i find it more useful than steam overlay anytime. (GFWL actually pauses the game, links me to other accounts, and allows for separate speaker/mic use from IN GAME settings vs external system settings)
