I just started the game on "normal", so i guess that it should be easy at this point since its just the beginning..but i feel like its just SO EASY...my question is:

Does the game constantly and progressively get harder and harder or is it just easy "As is"? I really dont want to restart my game on hard if it will eventually balance out progressively...but i dont want to play at an extremely easy game either..

suggestions?

I'm only on chapter 5 and I wouldn't say it has gotten much harder. I've probably only actually been hit maybe 3 or 4 times.

It's so much easier to aim with a mouse and keyboard so if you're a competent gamer maybe you should restart on hard.

I play on easy. Most games I play on easy. I don't want a challenge, I want entertainment. Life is hard enough :-)

I find easy is perfect

I am on level 7 I think. I just finished that big boss with the 3 plant thingies.

I have a L3 suit and all the upgrades are maxed out. Only using the plasma cutter. Lethal and its all you need.

Difficult to answer the OP.
I myself play it on easy, but that's because I like the easy over-kill playing.
It is difficult to answer, since the game and monsters change a bit all the time, as you go through the story line. Sometimes the monsters and/or situations are easier, sometimes they're harder.

The first couple of monsters you meet is, of course, just to give you a scare and intoduce you to the fighting. But if you find killing monsters way too easy by the end of the 2-3 levels, I guess you could perhaps benefit from starting over on a higher difficulty.
... just know that the hard monster/situations are going to be a real challenge now...

I'm currently enjoying Dead Space on Impossible mode!
After finishing the game 3 times on Medium I can say this is a real challenge!
Every necromorph needs around 6 shots with your plasma cutter to whipe them out (also because my plasma cutter isn't that strong yet)!

ive completed it on easy medium hard and impossible the only difference really is how many shots it takes to kill and damage you take if your hit there isnt more enemies or anything so its not actually any harder really i didnt think

It really depends on how you build your character. I found that going through using only the plasma cutter was easier than other builds. It does get harder as you go on, but there's not a dramatic increase in difficulty or anything.

that plasma cutter is OP..the game really isnt too difficult..some of the survival events can be a pain sometimes..when a room gets locked down, and you gotta kill everything to lift the quarantine..the impossible difficulty is obviously false advertising :\ hope DS2 has a much better challenge

No, the opposite is true. It gets easier. As you skill up your RIG and weapons, and as you collect more resources, the game gets easier and easier. The first level is the hardest, as you have no supplies when you start. I ran out of ammo a few times on level 1 playing on impossible, and resorted to stasis / melee to take enemies out.

But by just half way into level 2, I had so much ammo I was selling my surplus.

Also, since the game is designed for, and therefore balanced for, a pad, playing it with a keyboard and mouse you'll likely find it much easier than the difficulty's name will suggest.

Normal is easy
Hard is normal
Impossible is hard

The game could really do with one or two difficuties above impossible, balanced for K&M.

i agree.
even more, when u have learned to handle your guns (cutter secondary gunmode^^). with the powerups it turns into:
one shot for the legs, second for the head (or limb^^) and its done. there r only three nmy-classes which need pretty much more shots.

The games difficulty is scaled to a gamepad. Play with mouse&keyboard and even 'Impossible' becomes quite easy.

The game is easy as hell. Trust me, if you're using mouse+keyboard play it on impossible. If you're using a gamepad, I suggest hard.
