Game crash on startup

well, I start the game and instantly it crashes and a window saying "crashed with an unhandled exception" appears, anyone else with this problem?

Let me guess. It's also stating "Access violation at memory address 0x000000." It is, isn't it. Don't you ♥♥♥♥ing lie to me.

Lots of people running it on wildly different OSs have this problem, indicating that it's the game itself ♥♥♥♥ing up and there's little we can do.

Bumping this post because this is the exact same issue I am see on Win7 64.

Tages installed fine and activated the game, but launching it in any configuration causes a black screen at first and then a crash dialogue stating an access violation.

Anyone have a work around?

Not having an issue during start up, but I'm having consistent crashes not even 5 minutes into the game. Anti aliasing in CCC doesnt work any more (it used too), can't run at 60hz, and my saved games don't show up in the atari folder.

This game is a mess, that I've been trying to play for almost 2 years now

I have to say, I've been trying to play this game for about an hour. I've crashed all at random times, some starting up the game, some in the main menu, some while minimizing, some while loading, some just when I get into the game.

WTF could be causing this? I'd say I've crashed close to 20-25 times. This is ♥♥♥♥ing bull♥♥♥♥.

Try this: Goto where your game is "Steam\steamapps\common\chronicles of riddick - assault on dark athena", then find "DarkAthena_Launcher.exe" and change compatibility mode to "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" and then tick the box "Disable visual themes"

Im running Win7 and plays fine after i done that ^^.

Are these issues with Dark Athena? I've played Butcher Bay a little and didn't have any issues.

Didn't work for me. 198 steam titles that work flawlessly. This ONE doesn't.
