Hi all.
Yesterday I purchased the SD40-2 : Santa Fe Edition add on pack, and for £2.99p GB Pounds I am very pleased with it.

Every scenario runs fine, except for "Running Slow" Every time I am playing it, it pops up train collision or train derailed through consist tilt. I saved the game after runnung it 2 or 3 times and it happens just after you have to reverse and take an "alternative path" because of an accident on the line to the rail shed.
It comes up "train derailed due to collision with boxcars" although just before the "collision point" I have zoomed out as far as possible and looked at in in the map view and there is no other train or boxcars anywhere.
I have run the "check the integrity of my game files" and that reports no problem, but still the problem is there.
Anyone any ideas or suggestions
cheers

Good morning, driver. Which scenario is this? I have the SD40-2 High Nose (Wide Nose?) add on's for the Barstow to San Berdo routes. Maybe I can run it later and check it out, see if I get the same bug.

Hi
The add on is at

http://store.steampowered.com/app/24057/

the description on the page is all wrong, steam seem to have thier wires crossed.
The scenario's with the add on are
1- Free roam castle rock
2- Running Slow
3- Boxcar shunt
4- Cake mix
As I said, it works fine apart from the running slow scenario, although I tried it again earlier today and it states the same thing, collision with boxcars etc, but then I noticed the engine on the train in the collision was not the one I was driving, it was part of the consist I had to deliver and uncouple from earlier in the game. I am beginning to wonder if perhaps I should of applied the brakes to the boxcars as the drop of point is on a bit of an incline. I will try it and see if that works.
cheers

Ahhhhh, in the Driver's Guide window, do you have a yellow or green light? try waiting for a green light, the consist ahead of you is slow, and you can run into it. If that happens you get a derailment.

Hi - I also have this problem - I think (though I am not sure) that it is one of the two long AI trains further up the yard that derail. The message I had was 'Train derailment due to AI collision (SD40-2 3559 Hoppers)' and some numbers I didn't have time to get before the scenario ended.

This looks like a bug and I shall email support.

Well done Arizonachris.
That waiting for the green signal (from amber) has solved the mystery. finished the scenario at last.

The bug occurs when you have dropped of the consist at yard 9 (I think its 9 anyway) then you go and collect the 3 engines from the fuel depot, go to the message point, then the accident spot, you then have to reverse back onto the mainline and set the points to go through the "alternative path" This is where the signal is set on amber, but like you stated in your post, wait for the signal to go green and all is well.
Sure, it is a bug, but at least if you wait for that green light you can finish the scenario.
It was happening (train collision) even when I was watching my engines progress in map view and there was no other engine in sight :-))
Thank's for you help/advice guys, it is appreciated

Yes, it's an annoying little bug that spoils the scenario, maybe your email to support will prompt a patch from them. But as Arizonachris mentioned, wait for the amber signal to turn to green and it's ok to continue. Definately a bug/problem as the amber signal implies you proceed with caution, not stop and wait :D

Hmm, well I still can't finish it. I've tried waiting at various places. Once I've reversed back and changed the points to go via the 'alternative route' the lights on the drivers guide are already green anyway.

I have managed to see the AI train derail in the 2d map view - it is indeed a long AI train heading out of the yard, and as it passes a set of points it seems to collide with something 'invisible', and comes off the rails. I have a screen grab here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/49143077@N07/4526173565/sizes/o/) if you are interested.

Ah well, I'll see if RS.com can fix this.

It appears you have another issue in that scenario too. Some rogue car is derailed in the yard. (circled in red).

Nigel, first off, verify the game files. Right click on the game in your Steam Games list, choose Properties> Local Files> Verify.

Then, start the game and clear your blueprint cashe from the "Tools" tab. Hope that helps.

Oh dear, so I tried verifying my local files, which I've done several times before with no problems, apart from it always seems to find 20,000 files it wants to re-download (does the program modify some of the steam installed files when it runs?), but now it downloads until it the progress says 99%, and then it stops, and says (in the normal steam UI) 'download starting' and that's it. I've tried the new beta UI and this is the same, except it says 'download paused'. Either way I can't get it to decide the game is ready.

I think I may try re-installing from scratch, which is a bit a pain but I'm not quite sure what else to do.

Yoiks! Yeah, my Steam install got corrupted a few weeks back and I had to reinstall it all over again.

First, backup (copy and paste) your Steam Apps folder. That will save all the games you have already downloaded from Steam. Unistall Seteam then reinstall. Run "CCleaner" (free at CNET.com) to clean the Registry. Copy the Steam Apps folder over to the new Steam Apps folder that you just reinstalled. That will restore all the games you downloaded previously.

Also, you may want to, just for the heck of it, run your Virus scanner and anti spyware scanners. I highly recommend Avast! for antivirus and Malwarebytes for anti spyware. I also use CCleaner for a Registry cleaner, gets rid of all the bits that uninstallers leave behind.

All back up and running again, but the scenario is still the same - when the AI train gets to that point it derails. When it derails lots of other units go flying all over the map, including the 4 or 5 that were parked in the yard that styckx noticed. Weird.

hi,

It's a physics problem.

Collision in a box.

I'm sure one day they will fix it.
