Thanks to everyone that sent mail. At this time we're no longer accepting participants for this beta test.

We got enough responses and will be sending out beta instructions on Tuesday or Wednesday to everyone that responded.

As some of you may have heard, we have a solution for the poor framerates on ATI cards using Catalyst drivers later than version 9.4.

We don't have access to the large variety of hardware that our users do. So we'd like to extend an open invitation to be apart of a brief beta test to verify the solution works on a large variety of hardware.

Requirements:

- You already own a copy of Defense Grid on Steam.
- Send an email to betalead@hiddenpath.com.
- Please include your operating system type and video card type in the email.

That's it. We'd love have both ATI and NVidia users as well as those that did and did not experience the framerate problem participate to ensure that we cover a large variety of hardware.

Early next week, we'll contact everyone that sent us an email with instructions on how to access the beta. After that, we just ask that you play the game and give us any feedback regarding framerates.

Important note: Any progress earned during this beta will be preserved. You won't lose your medals when the fix is offically released.

I'm on an ATI card, but I've never had the frame-rate problems either, though I would be very willing to help in any way that I can. Email has been sent.

nVidia SLI user here. No major problems, but I always had slowdowns later on in Grinder and Super Grinder levels. I assume that's normal (Core i7 at 3.4GHz, 6GB DDR3, 1920x1200, max settings).

E-mail sent.

Edit:
On second thought, I also have a laptop with ATI/AMD graphics (HD3650 Mobile/FireGL V5700 Mobile). Will test that too.

Yes, this framerate problem is definitely WinXP and ATI only, but a good variety of cards and OS will help us make sure it's stable for everyone else too.

Unfortunately I switched to win7 this weekend and now I don't have any problems with the game, but just an idea, why don't you guys use something like virtualbox with 3D acceleration on, might give you an idea of why the game is not using the GPU properly.

I've played 2 or 3 maps and for now there is a big improvement.

I'm using catalyst 10.2 and an ATI x800. Trying the 4th map of Borderlands results in a minimum of 30 FPS with the beta while accelerating and stays around 50-60 when not accelerating. This is great, since those numbers are pretty much half without the beta (15 FPS accelerating and 30-60 when not).

I cannot use 10.3 since my card is now "legacy" and 10.2 is the latest for the x800.

win xp sp3, 10.3 on an ati HD 5750, just played through all of borderlands and i'm probably getting a solid 60fps regardless of what's on the screen. great job with the fix!

I can't wait til this fix is official, I haven't been able to play Defense Grid for almost a year because of it, so my thanks goes out to all involved!

Thx for the patch.
Now it's working perfectly!

Os : WIndows XP service pack 3
Card : ATI HD4870
Proc : Intel Core2Duo E8400
2Go RAM
Catalyst: 9.6

The game run smoothly and the framerate is very good.

Thx for the good job ;)

Beta seems very smooth IMO. Played a few minutes due to lack of time, but so far so good. (win7/5970ati/10.4preview)

I think they got quite a bit of feedback from the patch already. I sent mine in at least. I'd imagine they're almost ready to release the patch.
