When it gave me this error after attempting to start the demo it took me to adm.com for ati drives. Should I download one to get it to work and which one?

Give us your graphics card model. If you don't know it, try running this free program:
http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpuz/cpuz_154.zip
unzip, run it and then look at the Graphics tab (just give us the Name).
OR, after knowing the model, you can download the drivers by yourself on this page:
http://www.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDHomePage.aspx
On the right there's an easy selection box, just select "Graphics" as first item, then your OS, the Radeon and then your model.
Make sure to uninstall your old drivers, then reboot and then install the new ones (it will ask you to reboot after install, unless you're under Windows 7).

Mine is the X1400 so I entered in the information. Now I download the Catalyst Software Suite? Or am I in the wrong area?

Its a laptop yes. Many other demos run fine on it. I may have to tune down the graphics a bit. I am just testing it out to see if it runs ok before buying.
EDIT: Been having problems getting Osmos to work along with many other people and apparently a fix on the FAQs pretty much says installing this same said driver will fix my problems if Cunin or anyone else can confirm that Catalyst Software Suite is what I need to run the SSHD Demo that would be great. I am assuming so but I am new to PC gaming so I don't want to download it without assurance.

The first important thing you need to know about computer gaming is : A laptop is not for gaming !
Aslo osmos is so much less computer power asking !
And its not because you can run a demo mean you are able to run all of them !
If you want a real suggestion ... Get a desktop computer for gaming !

Ok well without being too rude.
A. Many people use laptops for gaming. I mean obviously I won't be playing Crysis any time soon but its good for most all games.
B. If I can't run the demo I can't run the game which is why I want to get the demo running first.
C. Telling me to buy a desktop is an example of not helping so unless you have something helpful to add please leave the discussion.
I do not mean to be rude but I hate it when I come on to certain forums and get remarks like your own.

The fact is low to medium lappies usually don't do too well with games. There are exceptions and they do make gaming laptops. He was just I believe trying to point out that you would have better luck with a desktop rig though that might not be possible or desirable to you at this time. In the real world we make due with what we have. I know I have to.
It's been a while since I ran a ATI card but I do remember having to download Catalyst. If you have a separate card and it's not just a graphics chip, after installing the suite, give her a go. Surprisingly this redone game is as was mentioned very demanding even on desktops so your laptop might not have the juice even with the graphics dropped to low spec to run it. You won't know until you give it a try. Let us know one way or another how it goes with the demo.

Also, bear in mind that most mobility gfx aren't supported in games, there's always a disclaimer on the box stating that. If it runs, fine, if it doesn't, either look at your vid card maker for a driver update, or forget about it as the game developer's not oblige to do anything to make it work. I don't know about the mobility version of the X1xxx cards, but pre-HD2xxx cards are now considered legacy devices, ATi will release a driver or two should there be major issues. Other than that, all newer ATi drivers are for HD2xxx, HD3xxx, HD4xxx and HD5xxx series.

Bades47, if you cannot get an updated driver for your card, you can always press "Cancel" on that message, and it will start the game anyway. If you are lucky, it may work relatively ok - it all depends on the state of your current driver.

Damn I still get goose bumps whenever one of the developers comes down from the heavens to speak with us mere mortals. Even Valve could learn from CroTeam! Customer service with a smile!

Sorry Bades47 for the delay but yes, Catalyst Software Suite is the thing you need. It contains the drivers and the control panel.
Well, i'm using desktop Radeon HD5850 and i'm also getting this stupid error. Drivers used are Catalyst 10.6. The latest ones at the moment.

I'm using a ATI Radeon HD 5870 and i am also having this problem - it starts fine if i cancel the message and try again, but is quite annoying and uncalled for as i have the latest drivers etc. Do Croteam expect to fix this minor problem anytime soon?
