Curious.
If I purchase the Orange Box with Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Portal, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2
And I have all of those other than Portal, can I gift everything but Portal to someone?
i've never gifted nore bought packs so I don't know how that works.

No. As far as The Orange Box is concerned, that only applies to HL2 and Episode 1. Thus, you'll be able to gift your extra copies of HL2 and EP1 and all other extra copies will be wasted. Just get Portal by itself.

Or you could just buy Portal... It's $20 bucks off of Steam. $10 dollars cheaper than the Orange Box. Unless you want to pay more for the Orange Box in order to get the extra copies to give to friends. In that case, I think you can only gift Half Life 2 and Half Life 2 Episode 1. The rest cannot be gifted. As outlined here (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4502-TPJL-2656).

Just by the orange box and enjoy it, knowing that your money is well spent even if it's giving you duplicates :)

^^ I misread the OP for a second, and thought that too.
Anyway, just buy portal unless you could sell your gift copies to a friend for 10 or more dollars.

lol wow, I bought portal after I got the 1st reply and already finished it and the bonus maps, wth.
It really should be like $5 now, if that is all you get.

You can find Portal mods in the sticky thread (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=611925) at the top of the forum, and here (http://www.planetphillip.com/posts/category/single-player-mods-and-maps/portal-1/).

Did you actually listen to the dialog? Did you explore?
Did you do the achievements? DID you try finding mods to play with to see what else is out there for the engine?
of course, if you're blasting through it and complaining it's not long enough, I seriously doubt you have the patience to learn how to apply mods.

Actually - I would think you just went through it quickly. There is much more to the game than is first shown. The achievements give it a new life and different challenges. Not to mention the "Transmission Received" achievement...

Ha! When I went to buy Portal it was €20 however luckily I noticed the Orange Box beside it for €20!
Best bargain ever. Still playing away over a year on. I would have glad(os)ly payed €20 for Portal alone. It's definitely worth it.
I only went to buy Portal after randomly overhearing Glados (the "bring your daughter to work day" bit) when my brother was playing. I could have just played his copy but I wanted my own just to hear the humour. I absolutely loved the mental challenge and it's uniqueness/quirkiness. As for the ending (roaming around the back of the lab) that was just genius. Still Alive at the credit really cements the humour in it.
OP if you didn't like the humour I'm guessing you are more of a shoot 'em up kinda player. Portal is more of a cult classic for it's quirkiness.

The background story is the game, the puzzle part is just there to kill the boredom of listening.

Are you serious? I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not. If you are being serious please explain further?
