you can start by reading this tutorial
• Windows KF Dedicated Server Tutorial (http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=30579)
There is no KillingFloor.ini in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\killingfloor\System, which is where it is supposed to be. How would I make one?

I had trouble looking for an .ini file myself once.
You don't see the .ini on the file.
Here's a screenshot... http://i41.tinypic.com/2ajrj2f.jpg
That's the file, and it should be under you System folder. So you were in the right folder, just look for that selected file.

you need to download the half life tool..as shown in the tutorial.
you will then have a server folder where you need to copy the default.ini file and rename it killing floor.ini.
its all right there in the tutorial.
Found the .ini folder and did just about everything else said in the tutorial, but my .bat file just reaches Updating Installation and then closes. Says I have to put the download command for Killing Floor server files in it, where would I find that?

please explain exactly where you are up to in the tutorial and i can probably help you get it sorted.
ive just set up a dedicated on my own, and i know its not as straight forward as it seems if you are only an average user.
The fourth step under Installing. I've already went ahead and configured the server, so right now I'm stuck on this, and actually launching the server.

have you made the .bat file and copied it to the correct folder?
(open up notepad, cut and paste the following line (without quotes) and save it as gameupdate.bat in the directory you created.)
"hldsupdatetool -command update -game "killingfloor" -dir C:\KS1"
(adjust the directory label accordingly)
I copy/pasted the hldsupdatetool -command update -game "killingfloor" -dir C:\KS1, replaced the end with the name of my server folder, saved the notepad to the server folder, as well as everything else it told me to do. It just stops once it reaches Updating Installation and closes, won't ever do anything else.

can you post a screeny of the server folder files?
you might have the stuff you need.
if not try wiping and start again.

your server folder should look something like this
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n133/bulletmagnet_01/kfserver.png
I only have the .bat file, hldsupdatetool_readme, INSTALL, ClientRegistry.blob, HldsUpdateTool, HldsUpdateTool_38.mst, and the killing floor .ini files in my server folder, nothing else.

i have to go out now, but i recommend starting over..maybe there was a problem with the download.
just make sure you have the server folder separate from your gaming folder.
Finally got the server running but it's on LAN and none of my configurations are working. I edited the KillingFloor.ini file in my system folder and started the server with kf_server_launcher. How would I change it from LAN to internet and get my configurations to work?

do a bit of searching at the tripwire forums, all these kind of topics been discussed in the server support section. if you dig around you can also find all sorts of batch scripts/mods that will make admin much easier, it's all well documented there. much faster than making a new post for everything you get hung up on and waiting for a reply.
what I will suggest is that if you're a beginner you should do as little manual editing of the killingfloor.ini as possible, the web admin/rcon can do almost anything you need from a browser with much less risk of messing something up and causing problems.
Tried to register on the tripwire forums, but it keeps saying that an administrator has banned/blocked my email address/provider, though I've never even used their forums before. I've used multiple email addresses, none of them work. What would be a solution to this?

They've blocked a number of free email accounts. As far as I'm aware Gmail still works.
They've blocked a number of free email accounts. As far as I'm aware Gmail still works. And why would they do that?
