View Full Version : Should I buy it via steam even though...

Should I buy Morrowind through Steam even though I have the physical discs? However, my problem is that when I play the game it would always crash randomly at times for no reason (random times meaning crashing 5 mins into the game or even after 30 mins) even if I took out my mods. I got sick of saving everytime I did something, so I uninstalled it.
Does the steam version of Morrowind fix all that crashing? Or was my copy just a bad disc? There aren't any scratches on the disc so I have no idea why it would crash consistently.
Thanks for the help if anyone knows what I am talking about.

Morrowind crashing due to a bad disc is pretty unlikely. It's much more likely that it was a compatibility issue. Was your retail copy fully updated with all the patches?

My game crashes almost everytime I commit a crime and guards come after me... this is getting annoying.

Sorry for the some what late reply. Yes, I had every patch up to date as well. I think I may give it another try but I can't imagine playing without mods, especially that one that fixes the economy so you can't make 293847932748329 gold easily (I prefer it to be difficult, that way it's more enjoyable).

Morrowind crashes a lot. If the disc version does then the steam version should not be any different.

I remember the discs having errors when the game came out and you needed a download sometimes to fix it. corrupted files, long looong time ago :)

Yeah, if you were running a fully updated version, it is most likely that the Steam version would behave in the same way.
