I keep seeing people make stupid posts about a game that they have never played.

If you have not played this game please do not post your reviews, opinions, or pessimism like you know what you are talking about.

I keep seeing people give this game critical reviews , and they do not even own the game.

If you guys want to troll, why not go and troll a big company like EA or UBI soft.

This game is really fun, and a few a$$holes are ruining it for everyone.

The game is definitely worth the price, the game play is really well planned, and the graphics are really top notch.

Anyway, before you take people's advice here , be sure to see if they actually have played the game.

Common complaints and solutions:

Q. I have bad FPS, the game runs shaky.
A. Time to upgrade your system, windows 98 has been out dated for some time now. Try to get either windows XP, or Windows 7. Vista users should already be used to everything running like crap.

Q. The rocket launcher needs to be nerfed!
A. Learn how to jump, and aim correctly. The rockett moves really slow, and it is easy to jump out of the way, or simply shoot the rocket in mid air.

Q. Well, lets see, it is 2d... it has guns and jetpacks... OMG!! soldat!!
A. This game only shares a couple of characteristics of Soldat, Anyone who has ever played Soldat will instantly see and feel the difference.

Q. OMG!!! Grenade SPAM!!
A. Please go back to playing COD 2, they miss your constant whining about grenade spam. (and how are the supposed to play without you telling them that they all suck, and need to follow your orders)

Q. OMG where is the dedicated servers, online games need dedicated servers to be gooder than other online games.
A. The game runs really well, even servers with 350 ping are playable.. There is a slight bug in the server browser that rates pings much higher than they actually are. Just hit refresh once to see the true ping rate. Oh yea! Gooder is not a word you idiot!!

Q. 10 ways this game is like Team fortress 2.
A. Yes, yes yes, The TF2 guy is here. Every multiplayer game must stand up to TF2. lol! What a bunch of crap, TF2 has some of the worst team play in Multiplayer game history. Very few people ever play as a team in that game. The movements suck, the weapons suck, the gibs and blood are the wrong color, and the player models look like they where stolen from a Pixar childrens movie.

Q. Xbox 360 controls do not work the same as (insert Xbox 360 game name here)
A. Not every game needs to be the same . If you do not like the joystick bindings in the game, simply use Pinnacle profiler, and the "joystick snap" command to make the cross-hairs snap back to the player after every movement.

Well ,that should cover it.

For $8 this game really rocks! I would even pay $20 for it!

The problem is more with listen servers having the host decide at some point to leave the game and thus ending it no matter what the other players think.

I own this game and I must say I regret purchasing it in such a state, it feels very much like a beta with bugs in fps and animations, and meh core gameplay mechanics.

Alpha Kenny One, you should not dismiss peoples claims simply because you haven't experienced the issues in question..
Some of the things you dismiss are also opinions rather than facts, everyone is entitled to their own opinion on how grenades, rockets and stuff should work..

At the moment you're not doing any good with that attitude of yours, you're just making a chicken out of a feather..

Yea there are only 2 team play classes, the rest of the people are all in it for the glory. If there is no medic or engineer then the game totally sucks.

This game you can play with as few as 2 players and still have a good time.

You guys are all just haters. People who are actually enjoying the game don't come here, it is just people with broken computers full of spy-ware from all the tentacle raape porn they download, who come here to flame.

It is a really well made game, I am having a total blast with it. Every game so far has been a fun experience for me.

I bought this game on impulse because I love these 2d styles multiplayer shooters but I just cannot for the life of me enjoy it, the gunplay sucks balls and I will point as it has already been pointed out a number of times - NOTHING A FEW TWEAKS WONT FIX.

Oh and the graphics on 1920x1080 on high fullscreen are ♥♥♥♥in ugly to be blunt - it doesnt look so bad on lower resolutions though.
Just admit you are a BAD FANBOY and move on.

Define "beta", Some games run awesome in the beta version, and some suck... Beta is not a level of which to judge things... It is just a way to say "This game is not complete yet".

LoLz to the people who bought this when they could have just downloaded soldat and had fun for free...(and if you enjoyed it enough, register it for 15$)

it's really sad that steam's ranking system goes up every time a game comes out and makes people think "wow that game must be awesome" when there are just plain better games out there. I'm not immune, I bought "Plain Sight" thinking the same thing, and got a mediocre game for 10$ that could have gone to a better one.

Hey guys! Nice pros and cons list you're going through for people that haven't gotten the game yet! Anyway, I just wanted point out to Alpha Kenny One, that you misunderstood choasfox60's post. He said it's a fact that dedicated servers would make the game better. I think what you might have read is that the dedicated servers should be better. Just wanted to make that correction kthx.

Yea! I develop community maps for Soldat, it is an awesome game too. i highly recommend it.

I will make maps for this game too if they allow us to. I want to make an "Excessive" mod like quake games. I will also make special maps to accommodate the excessiveness :)

Wow, what an abusive person :(. I have the right to voice my opinion here just like every one else, and TF2 is complete crap compared to may other games out there. Take Lead and Gold for instance, Everyone can heal, everyone can add powerups to team mates. You spawn right where the action is. TF2 you have to walk the same route over and over again, which is boring as hell.

This game has much better team work on CTF mode than TF2 as well.

and as for dedicated servers ,NO ONE CAN SAY WEATHER THEY ARE BETTER OR NOT, they do not exist for this game. Who knows, the coders might make a mistake and the protocal will suck for dedicated servers. No one can tell, or compare anything unless they exist.

The game could be good but needs a bit of work. Particulairly optimization as I have framerate inconsistency (avg ~40) with an i3-530@4.1ghz(OC) 4gb ddr3 1600 and sli'd gts250s.

I assume it is because "Hammer" is the name of the source works engine editor. The "Legionary" team are the ones who reworked the counterstrike AI.

I am just guessing though.

I do not see why that term would be deemed offensive.. but if it is against the rules i wont use it.

Your claim that people should upgrade their PC from Windows 95. Sorry but a fraction of the people who use Steam would even have access to a Windows 95 PC. Most people are either on XP or Vista by now. More people are moving too Windows 7.

Also other people are allowed to post their opinion. Just because you find the Rocket to be fine doesn't mean it's a fact.

If people find that grenade spam is to powerful which it sounds to be, it will not be fun then. Because Grenades would do all the work.

Claiming TF2 have some of the worst teamplay is kinda silly. I find the teamplay to be rather good in that game because it's usually what gets a team to win.
As for weapons being bad in it. Really? :/ They seems to be rather fine.

As for the last part, that is completely breaking the rules. Which you'll be given infraction for. Don't just assume that people are pirating things when a game has connections issue with a Peer to Peer type setting.

Criticize a game is a good way to tell the developer in what way it's bad. If more people nag about one issue it just shows that it should be fixed.

The game is not perfect. I've seen AI tripping up in the dumbest of places, the mouse isn't very responsive and the fact there's no option to auto respawn on death (i have to click the button just when the timer hits). I bought this game under the impression that it was a finished product, when it's not.
Rockets ARE overpowered in that they essentially instakill anyone they hit, causing pretty much each and every player to use that one weapon. If everyone is using just one weapon because the others aren't as powerful, you have what is called a "Balance Issue".

That being said, I enjoy the gameplay (when i can find a server) and I see a lot of potential for the game to evolve and improve. I'd say I INVESTED in this, as in time it'll get better. But for the product it is now, the value is questionable.

You guys should just buy Soldat, they have a strong community that would not let this happen. And yes, Soldat has just as many bugs, if not more than this game.

Multi-player games need a good community to thrive... this is not one of them :(

Trolls have killed, Mount and blade, Lead and Gold, Plain sight, and now this game. I really don't see why small companies even bother with steam.

I am going to just stop buying Multi-player games on steam. Anything that is done by a small studio gets flamed and destroyed by a few hate filled people.

This is my last message on these forums. I am not going to participate in a community where the admins can contribute to the downfall of a great game. Total abuse of power.

You guys just make fun of me because I have Down syndrome, like everybody else does. :(

Are you seriously believing that? There are no servers because the game has no dedicated server program. Random people aren't going to do the hosting well, especially if the game doesn't use UPNP to forward the ports automatically. Very few people actually know about port forwarding but almost everybody has NAT. That means most people can't host even if they wanted to. Either you give the game dedicated servers or you do automated matchmaking like the consoles do, no half assing it!

Also Plain Sight is not dead.

Forum trolls have no meaning for the success or failure of a game, almost nobody visits the forums. What has meaning is how good the first impression of going online and finding a match is. Going there and seeing no games open won't make people host their own, it makes them quit.

Ok, I don't own this game but still think that this conversation goes beyond the game itself.

Every game has a part of the community which shouts for changes. But assuming those are "trolls" is just your opinion once more. So don't force your opinion on us.

And the "TF2 has the worst teamplay" is again your opinion. My opinion is that TF2's teamplay is by far better than for example Counter-Strike's or Battlefield's. Perhaps Medic and Engineer are some of the key-roles, but can only those win on TF2? Nope.

And how the crap shall we know you got Down? Even mentioning it here is like a cry for pity from us. Everyone can assume crap on the web. I could say I have that syndrome, too.

And that said, I'll wait till this game gets updated and DLC'd ... and THEN i'll even consider buying it.

Lacks features (dedicated servers, not for the ping, but for ragequiting hosts or unreliable ISP), 8 maps seems to few (maybe a Map Editor Tool?), and it even seems to have a Hammer Legion already .... among other things.

Even being the "indie lover" type of Steam user .... not so sure about Booster Trooper. And for a change, i'll definitely , time will tell.

Also Plain Sight is not dead.

But still, this is an awesome game for a REALLY cheap price. Those that likes wallscrolling combat games, get it! Its totally worth the price.

I'd have to echo this sentiment. Based primarily on memories of good time I had with both Abuse and Soldat, I purchased this game on impulse. I've honestly had fun playing it, though I'd certainly agree there are some performance issues that will hopefully be addressed with a patch. Hopefully, with time and modification, this game will become something that's truly outstanding. I'm willing to wait and see. As it stands now, it's enjoyable, but it does some issues that the developers need to address.

Thanks very much for letting us know. One thing that I really appreciate about some of the indie titles I've purchased here on Steam is how receptive indie developers are to comments from the community and how they actively work to improve their titles. I've enjoyed playing Booster Trooper thus far and I'm glad to know that you guys are working to make it even better. Thank you for putting in the work to support the game.

I would suggest dedicated server for the game, might not sound important but it really keeps the game alive when you always can get a steady ping and good flow.
