Hey all, I am really tempted to buy this game, I've played the demo, and it's good fun... but am I able to just go in to the city in a sandbox type mode, with no missions or time limits in the full game? Even if I have to complete the story mode first... or do I HAVE to rescue the survivors before they die?

Survival mode is also enjoyable, but I like to be able to drive where I want, when I want, with no such limits...

Thanks! :D

What I've done is get the survivors before they die and then give them the ride of their life while I ride around town for a really long time. That's pretty much how you'll get your 3000 zombies killed in one mission achievement. But you can go on for as long as you want. But sandbox not really, just freedom to go through the city and then back to base that's it.

So the only way to explore the city is to do the story missions, and pick the survivors up before they die, then you don't have any time limits?

Also, can you go back and replay levels? Or once you completed it the game just sort of ... ends?

Yeah, but that's when Slaughter mode comes in - survive as long as you can in a closed arena.

Its not really 'open ended' like some games are.

[Like the way I will keep playing Fallout 3 for months just for the mindless violence]

To be honest, having played it through, a restricted sandbox isnt such a bad thing here. As entertaining as it is, even the novelty of zombie-encrusted mudflaps wears off. While you consistently earn more for each liquefied zombie, theres an upper limit to how much you need for upgrading your car and weapons. I think that there is a good mix of 'sandbox size' and variety. Particularly for an inexpensive game.
