I am having the same Issue. Why the ♥♥♥♥ do they have a DYSFUNCTIONAL DRM SEVER! WHEN THE GAME NEEDS IT TO PLAY!!!!!!!!!!

I have two other games which feature the new Ubisoft DRM, purchased through Steam, and they are contacting Ubi's servers just fine right now.

However, when attempting to run Conviction for the first time, I am told "unable to contact key server."

So I suspect the key server is distinct from the regular DRM server.

ah well either way, why they released it without checking this is beyond me. I was looking forward to this but now i have completely been boiled over with rage. Spiting on the consumer like usual.

Not working for me either.. Never was. The ".. Key server" thing was a result of Steam servers being down, and isn't related to this one.

ajajaja i resolvet the porblem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got mine to go through. Check your hosts file (C:/Windows/System32/drivers/ets/hosts) to see any unusual names in there. Once I deleted everything under the example names I was finally able to get into the game.

Could you please paste what you have in the file. Screen shot of the contents?

I think i fixed it. I removed everything from the (C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc) folder. I made sure to back it up. And so far it hasn't said that error message. But now it keeps crashing every 20 mins or so. I don't know if it's related at all to the error, but if anyone has any ideas I'd like to know.

I finally fixed my problem by completely uninstalling the ubisoft launcher in the ubisoft folder and then reinstalling it off the steam folder. It may be that other games interfere with it.

Fix for ati users. Go to http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/ATI-Catalyst-10-4-a-Hotfix.aspx I stopped getting the "requires an internet connection" message and it no longer freezes, crashes, or stutters.

I can vouch for that, it worked for me too. Open with notepad (C:/Windows/System32/drivers/ect/hosts) I just removed any links containing "ubi" and "ubisoft."
