Hi folks! Just curious if I should buy both games or just TC, as in

1. Is TC a standalone expansion or do I need Reunion?

2. Will I be missing out much in terms of items, story, etc., if I don't buy X3 Reunion?

Thanks!

TC is standalone, You do not need Reunion.

I have only ever owned TC but from what I've read from a lots and lots of the posts on the Egosoft forums a long while back is that Reunion is only really playable with a 3rd party mod (otherwise the setup is far too complicated or something) and TC is essentially Reunion with the mod already implemented, If I were you, I would just buy TC if you are not sure about the whole series, after all the stories are kind of secondary to the actual game play, You can follow them if you want to but I find it much more enjoyable to follow your own path and play style for your own storyline. And as far as I know, beyond a certain point all the races stories are the same:X

What Borginator said. I've been playing since X2, and while X2 and X3:R were/are very good games, if you don't play them, you're not missing anything big that you won't already get in TC. TC is basically the culmination of all the other X games that have come out before it. In some ways a shame, since they still largely use the same pilot audio banter soundbytes they've been using since X2, among other things. Still, its a great game, and all you're missing from X2 or X3:R is a very short storyline which is secondary to the actual game.

I picked up Terran Conflict 2.0 at Walmart some time back. What is different about 2.0 and regular TC?

2.0 was the patch version included with that box. It's all still the same game, as long as you patch it to the latest version which is 2.6.

OK, thanks. I have Steam version of Reunion too but uninstalled it after I bought TC 2.0 because I figured they are the same game but TC has further improvements. Or is there a good reason I should play Reunion too and have both installed?

the only reason I would play anything other then TC is for the story. Other then that Tc is the game to have.
perhaps there are other reasons but the above is the only thing I can think of why i would bother with the older games.
the big galactic shenanigans in Tc you can do with a bit more elbow room

Yea, that's pretty much what I figured. I bought Evochron Legends too which is very similar to the X Universe games but the graphics are not as good. You can land on planets too though but the planets just have stations on them that are the same as space stations.

Reunion and Terran Conflict are both totally stand-alone game. TC's story takes place after Reunion. Besides, TC has much more new ships, stations, missions, brand new stories, and much more friendly UI. But if you want to experience the whole X3 story, you should buy Gold Edition which I also bought. LOL

So, what about X1 and X2 and add-ons?
Will I miss a lot/something if will start play from x3?

I was playing at first X for long time and nothing after.
