It's been a good few years since I played Max Payne (the original). If I had to pull a figure from memory I would take a wild stab at 20 hours?

Edit: Worth every penny of your money any day though.

Yeah, I'm working from memory here too and would say probably about 20-25 hours combined.

They're SO worth it to play through though, even today (if you've never played them before).

Both are probably a good 4-6 hours each. They are worth it though great games with a great story. You'll feel connected to the character after you play these. I like games that have strong characters and the cutscenes are comic book art! Love both of em.

If you do end up buying the game, don't play it when your tired, it gets pretty trippy at one point.

I wouldn't call the first one 'really long' unless you measure it up to today's standards where people think ten hour single play campaigns are 'long.' I'd say maybe twenty or so hours at most.

The first one took me 7.7 hours according to Steam. Haven't played the second one yet.

7-10 each if you watch all the "cutscenes"

First use in a game, origin is the Matrix. Max Payne engine was used in one of the 3DMark's of those days, doing the lobby scene from the movie.

Well, if you want to get technical, variations of the effect are much older than that. :p

Both games take me about 9 hours to play. I watch all the story and I play slowly. These games are full of detail so I play for the experience as well as for the combat.

Ahh. My first ever graphics card Ti4600 running that 3D Mark demo without breaking a sweat apart from the dragon section of the demo. UT2003 amazed me at the time too.

Max Payne Max Payne 10 hours 10 hours

According to X-fire ive played Max Payne 1 for 10 hours, and this 10 hours is always being in game and playing, so it took me 10 hours to complete the single player campaign on the easiest mode. Of which it does actually have quite a bit of replayibility value once youve finished to complete the other modes, i just havnt got that far yet. :)

It took me 11 hours to finish Max Payne for the first time .

I'm working on Max Payne 2 right now , but I'm stuck at Part III Chapter 1 ...

Long shot here as far as my memory goes, but I'd say about 10 hours for MP and 7 for MP2, without skipping any "cutscene" or dialog. Less on successive playthroughs.

According to steam it took 5.8 hours to beat max payne and 4.4 hours max payne 2. I didn't skipped anything, wasn't speed running, forgot to save and died couple of times at the end/mid of the level, so i had to rerun entire level again. But i played them a lot when they were released 7-8 years ago. I don't think these games are that longer than modern ones.

I would guess around 18 hours.

I'm still only on chapter 1, part 4 or something in MP1 and played 7 hour so far according to steam. I keep dying constantly. Getting ninjad by grendes or a guy with a shotgun at point blank or my absolute favorite. Doing bullet time by accident off a death ledge.

Think the first was like 7.5 hours on PC (but I beat it on PS2 years before). For a first run through, bearing in mind there are 4 difficulties, it could easily take between 15-20 hours.

I managed to beat the first game in 1:01:08 on Dead on Arrival though (WR), take a look if you're interested:
