auto crash on startup

That's about it really. I'm running Vista 64 bit, and it encounters a problem every time I try to start it and has to close. Any suggestions?

it was just a stupid direct x problem. i just downloaded and installed direct x 9, and it's running fine now. computers...

It reminds me about the fact that this was one of many Steam games where has not been installed DirectX at first start. Maybe it should, even that it usualy annoys me.. :)

I had the same problem as Zinthalis. I have a basic x64 Vista set up and an integrated graphics card. I had Directx 11, but installing Directx 9c (just google it) fixed it completely.

My only question would be what are the implications of installing Directx 9c. Does it replace a newer version or simply supplement it? I haven't noticed any other problems in any programs thus far.
