I try to start the game up, it crashes after it says Daedalic. Anyone else having this issue?

I can't even get that far. As sson as the program loads, it immediately crashes back to windows, without even a warning message.
Win 7 x64, by the way.

I got an error the first time I tried to start it up, but that went away the next time I started it. I got ingame, but it crashed in the second location screen. It does seem kinda unstable. Using Windows XP.
Wonderful graphics though.

I found this problem with another game. The direct x files that it came with may not have installed.
Do to install directory/redist/directx and run teh dxsetup.exe file.
Good luck

Hi there!
Does anyone else has the problem that the game does not start? No matter whether I start it directly from Steam or from file system location, nothing happens, not even an error message. The system's requirements are fullfilled ...
I have Win 7, 64 bit (that's the problem???). (Re)-Install DX did not help ... :-(
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks a lot!
Regards!

I have the same problem. I'm getting seriously fed up of having to piss about with 'solutions' every time I buy anything from Steam.

Have you ever found a fix for this issue? I'm having the same thing - stuttering audio then the game crashes unless I skip the video. Happens for the New Game opening video as well. I don't want to play this game skipping every cutscene!
My friend has the same problem, I opened a thread on Daedalic's forum, but they have told me that my friend's card doesn't meet the requirements, but I've tested the game with my Intel card and it works, so that's not the problem.
This is the thread I've opened: http://forum.daedalic.de/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=1911

Well I ended up playing the game and watching all the cutscenes on youtube. It was a pain, but whatever.
Thankfully Deponia works fine, despite having higher system requirements in all areas. Guess they fixed the bug in their video player but didn't bother to update the earlier game, and still insist on blaming the problem on the users' systems....
