GW:T Cannot write to directory

Hello all, I just picked up the special on Steam as I wanted to try and get back into the game but I seem to have hit a brick wall. Every time I attempt to connect to the game I get an error message on the arenanet login screen about the game not being able to write to the steam directory. I've tried accessing the game without Steam, I've tried accessing the game while running steam under administrator and have tried running it solo with administrator. No dice in any case. Anyone else with this issue or know a cure?

Go to your NcSoft master account delete the guild wars from steam and then re download from your master account from NcSoft i had to do that for my City of Heroes

Wah if this was not bad enough, now my serial key is not recognised it says "serial already used"

Christ knows what to do? have spoken to steam who deny all responsibility and NCsoft have not replied yet! looks like yet another game brought through steam that I will never be able to play!:mad::mad::mad::mad:
