missing sky texture in l4d2

When I play L4D2, the sky is always black. does anyone know where the sky textures are in the steam folders and what they should look like??

Your not going to find them in any steam folder. L4D2 looks for them in its gcf/equivalent.

Your best bet to fixing this is to verify the cache

i did that and the first time it found a corrupt file. but the problem wasn't fixed.

i verified again after that and it told me nothing was wrong. in the process of redownloading/installing the game right now, hopefully it'll work.

i only found one other person with the same problem, and no solutions have been offered.

I have a similar problem. I don't see black though I see pink squares:(I only have this problem the map City17)

Addon support is useless after the Sacrifice DLC.

I've lost about 20 fps. Down to 60 fps but it's playable.

Setting them to Medium should work too. Don't know if that will increase FPS by any significant amount over High Shaders.
