Hey All,
I've just bought and installed the weekend deal. I got all excited about having a few new racing games to try out on my Saitek R550GT Wheel setup but....

1) DiRT doesn't recongise the wheel and even if I program the keys in the game the wheel doesn't work. Plus I can't enable FFB at all.
2) DiRT2 doesn't recognise the wheel but it will work after I've set the keys up manually - FFB works fine. However the steering is so sensitive that I'm all over the road - I've tried fiddling with the dead zone, linearity and saturation with little positive effect (what is linearity and saturation btw?)
3) FUEL - well what can I say; still waiting for the extra CD keys...
4) Haven't d'l'ded Grid or TOCA yet but I'm not holding my breath.

The wheel works fine in other games and all the tests work in the control panel applet (Vista Ultimate 32bit).

I mailed Codemasters but they "haven't tested the game with that wheel" so they can't offer anything.

Has anyone got any suggestions? It's looking like I may have actually managed to waste my money (even on such a good deal (on the face of things)) as I can't actually control the cars...

TIA

Pardon my being obvious, but you should have downloaded the demos first and tried getting them to work with your wheel.

This is no consolation... I know.

I have no idea if DiRT, FUEL, or GRID will work with my Logitech Wingman Formula GP wheel either, but in the case of FUEL and GRID the keyboard works *really* well, already, as tested by playing the demos. So at least these two will be OK as they are.

felanoma,
good to know... thanks for the info. Should playing with the keyboard not work out too well, it's always nice to have a more "professional" fallback.

Hey All,
....(what is linearity and saturation btw?)....

Saturation
----------
The smaller the percentage the less you have to turn the wheel. The larger the percentage, the more you have to turn the wheel.

Linearity
---------
With large negative numbers most of the change of direction happens with the first small turns of the wheel, further turning of the wheel has less and less effect.

With large positive numbers a small change of direction happens with the first turns of the wheel, but further turning of the wheel has progressively more and more effect.

I've never been able to set up Grid properly on any of my wheels (G25, Fanatec Porsche Turbo S) there always seems to be way too much delayed weight transfer. Saturation 35%, Linearity 0, and Steering Weight 0 is about the best I can get to something remotely driveable but I'm still fighting the wheel to keep the car in a straight line.

I have a Thrustmaster clutch wheel and Fuel does not like the extra axis and freaks out. Basically the game is setup for using an xbox controller and that is probably the best way to have fun with it.... A shame really...

There is a workaround out there, but I didn't have much luck with it... Here is the link in any case...

Grid is good fun and works well with my wheel, a thrustmaster clutch, but it also only has presets and you can not reassign buttons which is rather annoying...

Codemaster makes some good fun racing games, but man they need to work on their controls when it comes to wheels...
