Torchlight won't start at all

I have tried reinstalling the game, install it on other computers
and it still doesn't work, i'm beginning to think that my steam cloud files for this game are corrupted... i have no idea how to start the game:(

I was having the same problem but I finally got it to work today after deleting the local save files. You can do that by going to the AppData folder (C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming) and deleting the runic games folder.

i've already tried to delete that folder, thanks for the tip, but it doesn't work at all.

Make sure the drivers on your video card are up-to-date.

This worked for me: Start up Torchlight, where it tells you about the AppData folder, and while its on THAT box, delete the folder, then click "OK."

None of the answers has worked. From alittle research around the internet i have concluded, that people who uninstall the game and install it again, can't play the game at all. It makes me think that it has something to do with steam cloud being bugged up..

Can you try disconnecting from the internet and running Torchlight in Steam's offline mode? That would establish if this is a Steam Cloud issue.

If it is a Steam cloud issue you can go into the appdata Torchlight folder and open up the local_settings.txt

Scroll down in that file and look for the steam cloud and ignore steam cloud lines. Change those to a 0 and 1 respectively. That worked for me at least. When that's been altered Torchlight will only save locally instead of synchronizing with the corrupted/different files in the cloud.
