Is getting BAMF stuff hard?

Played the game for a bit and finished the first quest on Nightfall (Get rid of the Corsairs). So I got some stuff and sold it and got a wee bit of money in my pocket. I

I've just seen people with awesome stuff on and I was curious if any of it was really hard to get. Of the few MMO's I've played, it's been hard to get anything cool.

There are lots of items in the game and some of the things looks very nice. Some of the stuff is very difficult to get but you also gets very nice items by just playing the game.
