Hi there, I bought torchlight a while ago but ever since I have had these weird frame spikes its almost like my pc can handle it a times they are only like half a second spikes but they are still annoying anyone know what could be the problem please!! (its not some kind of weird screen jerk when the warrior hits or sumthing is it btw)
My current system is
4Gb RAM
Quad Core q6600
Windows 7 pro
ATI 4890 HD
Apparently this config is more than enough to play torchlight fine i dunno why this happens any help would be most appreciated thank you.

i get frame rate spikes when those little goblins with the bows fire off those grenades..then i get like 5,or less FPS,then it shoots back up..i dunno whats up with it either..its not even a demanding game, graphics wise..just seems to have some performance issues, i dunno.
your rig a ton better than mine..but i dont get framerate spikes at random..just those little goblins and their bows

The only time I get lag spikes is when there's about 40+ monsters on the screen (Ordrak/Shadow Vault).
Q6600 (oc'ed to 3.6 ghz)
4GB ram
Vista Ult 32-Bit
Radeon HD 4870 X2
I would say check your settings, see if you have AA enabled in the CCC. Some other possibilities, while less likely then a high AA setting or Catalyst AI, could be not enough free ram/paging file, high fragmentation (game file and/or hard drive), or background programs.

Yeah in the BIOS. I have a Asus Maximus Formula II board so there are several preset clocks to choose from.
As for Overdrive, I use it but I don't OC my card, I just use it to force the fan speed higher then the default 25~40% limit since my card can get really hot otherwise.

+1 for you as well.yea i get that too,is it the Zealots your talking bout? the black citadel or whatever its called, the last part of the game..i even have the mod installed, that like doubles the amount of mobs..and i dont get much of a framerate drop, even when using my destroyer to just use that 1 ability, that frontal cleave..but those stupid little goblins,it almost freezes as their firing, and its totally unplayable for that brief 2-3 second spike, its just really annoying
