How do you defeat the Colonel. I've tried several times.

When you start the fight. There is a miniature mouse on screen. Keep you eyes on it and do what it tells you. Keep tapping the l-button rapidly until it switches to the r-button. Quickly tap the r-button and you get a scripted kill.:mad:(damn consoles) I almost broke my mouse I was clicking so hard on this fight and hate this fight a lot. I have no idea of how many times I fought him before I was finally able to kill him. Worse than a fight game. It's my feeling it's also bugged but the colonel can be defeated.

PS: Some people plant mines in front of the door to kill him when he comes through the door but I haven't gotten that to work for me "yet".

I actually discovered this by accident, was so frustrated trying to kill him by button mashing my mouse until it broke. :o

Once you hack the door, go in and throw a couple of mines down, then get the heck out. Works like a charm!

Almost to the Colonel fight again myself and will once again try to wup him with the mines Arizona!:cool:

Surely there is a cheat or a way to get by the colonel without this monotonous clicking of the melee button over and over again. I have a good logitech gaming mouse and I have tried at least 20 to 30 times to get by this scene. Do the game developers really think this is fun or challenging?

Never mind!!!! I read a post further back and tried the key rerouting trick and killed the Colonel on the next try.
Reroute your melee and fire button to convenient keyboard keys and go for it.

Yes it is the only way. And after doing you get him on the first try the gods are on your side.

Thanks to all of you for the tips concerning Vanek. I finally killed him with a well placed mine directly on the doorway. It blew him right away as soon as I pushed "f" on my keeboard to open the door. It took me so many hours to get throught that sequence and foor other similar episodes with Alma. So frustrating!!! NOW HERE'S MY QUESTION: anyone ecountered the same problem with a quick time event occuring almost at the end with Keegan? If so, please tell me what is the trick to kill him. I lost enough time into those stupid "melee" fights, I give up without having finished the whole game !!!:mad:

Except for the stupid colonel you "shouldn't" be having any problems with the others other than the embarrassment of having them in a FPS, except maybe the elevator in the school where Alma tries to get you It also gliches sometimes for some like the colonel does. normally just a normal steady r-clicking should work fine for the other QTE's. You need to keep your eyes on the mini mouse and do what it says to do.

I tried everything already mentioned but was still unable to defeat the Colonel so I ended up turning everything down including vid resolution (I'm using a laptop to play). So rather than remapping your keys try going kinda low tech for the scenario. This will probably work for the Alma situation as well.
