I bought Crysis Warhead as soon as I got a new gaming PC a year ago. It isn't top of the line but it was good at the time for the price. I still can't run it on enthusiast with the AA off.
I have:
EVGA 9800 gtx+
2,8 ghz Core 2 Duo OC'd to 3.4ghz
8gb DDR2 RAM
Windows 7 64 bit.
In the intro it says "Runs best on dual cores!" Am I just clueless or something?

It's your graphics card. Which is basically a rebranded 2.5 year old 8800GTS (g92). It would be considered low-mid range by today's standards and it's noway gonna run crysis or warhead at max settings regardless if AA is used or not.

a hd5870/gtx480 can run enthusiast with no AA at around 40fps+ @ 1920x1200
A 9800GTX+ has only about 1/4 of that raw power :( still, high should be achievable and still be pretty!

well it would have run best on dual cores, and your card would have been able to run it at max settings due to their system requirements stated, however because the game is so unoptimized, any requirements you find for this game are complete garbage and you would need about 3 times more power than specified.

indeed, although to be fair to crytek, they used everything they had available to them, even the stuff (like HBAO, or a form of it, since it is there) that was a little premature at the time. If they remade crysis right now with all the updated versions of all the techniques, i'm sure they would get a good 50% extra fps.
Still, the post processing in crysis has no equal. At all. The textures now look a little old and worn, as they will do, but the effects are the best in the industry after 3 years.
