Text chat not working in online mode?

In the online lobbys, there's the text chat you can go to by pressing Ctrl... But when I do, I can't write anything into the box. I see the cursor there, and the system messages in the scrollback buffer, but can't type in my own messages.

In all the races I've been to, there haven't been any messages from any other drivers either, only the game status messages ("Player X has joined the session", etc.), so I think this indicates the chat being currently broken? Or?

Facing the same problem. Other than player "name" joined the session or left the session it won't display any message or characters won't appear in text box when we type. Maybe it's an issue with steam version only...

Figured it out. Voice and Text option in privacy settings at xbox.com needs to be set at everyone instead of just friends or blocked in order for in-game text chat to work properly.

These can be changed by going to www.xbox.com then click sign in. Provide your live email ID and password. Then click on your display/profile name. Then click on Privacy Settings. Voice and Text option is the first at the page.
