the sale was on since last week. they usually end these sales by Monday afternoon I believe (that's why i made sure I bought mine on the weekend). the best deal for you right now is the game of the year edition for 20 bucks. amazon has the expansions for a decent price in the 20ish range too.

i'll probably take your word for it and get it anyway... wish i could've saved $20 bucks though, that's enough for like 30 condoms... which would make me a happy man.. ;D

Guild Wars 5th Anniversary Sale - 50% off all Guild Wars
Announcement - Valve 30 Apr 2010
Celebrate the Guild Wars 5th Anniversary with 50% off the entire Guild Wars series this week only.
Get started with Guild Wars Game of the Year Edition, the award-winning online fantasy epic. Or check out the stand-alone expansions Guild Wars Factions, and Guild Wars Nightfall.
Or get all three: Guild Wars, Factions, and Nightfall in the Guild Wars Trilogy.
Three epic games. Zero subscription fees.
The vauge wording of the news article, coupled with the fact that it was still available on Tuesday after the other weekend sales ended, lead me to believe we had another couple of days on this one
Worth it or not, such tricky information does not encourage me to buy any game.

It ended when the (main) in game celebrations did by the looks of it.

Indeed, the actual start/end dates/times for the week-long, week and weekend specials are hard to predict unless you happen to watch them all the time and understand how they work from experience. Even then, there are no guarantees and you really just end up guessing. Really wish they'd just list the start and end dates/times clearly for each sale instead of just saying a sale is a week long but not writing when exactly the week started since at least we could figure out the end date/time from that. I guess in general, if you want to buy something, it's safest to buy it asap; this is also exactly how steam wants us to buy things... so unfortunately, sale dates/times will prolly continue to be vague and unclear.

If a sale ends on monday, which is usually the case you should buy it before 3 pm gmt in europe, which would be around 9 am for valve to start working.

I was considering getting it, but ending the sale when they did just saved me from getting another game that I don't really need when I have more than a dozen to play.
I have to agreed that compared to the Steam news' usual verbage I would have expected it to be on sale until at least tomorrow. One week since the 29th. Generally weekend sales end early Tuesdays my time and start Thursday nights, so it seemed more like a weekend deal time frame to me.
