i can usually get in a game after waiting an atrocious amount of time for the matchmaking process, but i can never get in a friends' game from an invite, and vice versa-- immediately an error pops up saying that the splinter cell conviction server is unavailable, and to try again later-- this happens immediately upon trying to join an invite, and a friend get this message if i send him an invite. do i need to forward a bunch of ports or what??

I get exactly this, forwarding ports worked once, then it just went back to before.

i tried when i first got the game and it worked once and we played hunter. hasnt worked since. installed tunngle to try and get around any problems with ubisoft and i played a good bit of coop with some guy. we both died a few times though and he quit, cant tell exactly why since theres no comms in the game, unless we missed it.

well theres the "trick' from pre-patch that should still be working.

Have the host...um...host the game normally (make it private) and wait for the other player to get in a deniable ops, as in load the actual DO mission. when he's finished loading, tell the host to send his invite, accept it and if you get the SCC servers unavailable message just retry going in deniable ops or just retry to join the game from the main menu, worked once or twice for me.

P.S: this subject has already been talked about elsewhere on this forum. Use the search engine :D

Seeing as this forum is almost dead, I'll revive the topic of Tunngle to say that I have tried it and the community is fairly active. The software does work, but you may need to specify to play with people from your continent or country to limit the lag. Expect to see cracked games there. In the end it's about enjoying the game, we just have to swallow the fact that we paid for it, and alot of the guys on Tunngle did not.

+1 for tunngle. get it and play online...
make sure you do the test under system in tunngle..
you may have to open a port ..
Make sure your in a tunngle forum for the game when you launch, to be seen.

Works very well if you follow those rules..
Tunngle is a network utility, creating a network for LAN over the net.
It is not, nor should be considered a cracking tool in any way.

If UBISoft cannot support a game, you just find other ways to play the game YOU PAID FOR!
it's just pathetic on their part at THESE PRICES , cannot even connect 2 people together over the net.
in the 21st century? PATHETIC! REMEMBER this when they try to sell you another game.
the words MULTIPLAYER and COOP should be removed from descriptions.
