Long loading times

Everytime I try to load up a server on multiplayer, it takes all day to load, atleast half an hour. Single player loads in less then 10 seconds. Is this happening to everyone or is it just a problem on my end? I mean, I did expect it to take slightly long but not this long!

Is it downloading anything? Is it set to use a different gamemode?

Well, if it helps, it usaully says it's loading (or possibly downloading?) models, textures, sounds, Lua Scripts, texts, stuff like that. Or does it always do that? That is what you ment by downloading, right?

What exactly do you mean by different gamemodes?

Does it give specific file names when it's loading?
By different gamemode I meant are you trying to play a gamemode which might be causing the long load time.

Ahh... your downloading files.
That always happens to me. When i just join a server and it has over 500 files to download, i stop DLing it and move onto another server.

I had a really SLOW connecting times to servers cause i had lots of addons, also, i recently deleted all of my gmod files and reinstalled, and it's fine now. I don't recommend it, but if you're connecting to a server with a different gamemode that could be the cause. Seeing as sandbox is a basic gamemode, and something like DarkRP is much larger. I hope i helped, if i didn't just say. :P

EDIT: Sorry for not reading other posts O_O Yeah, it's probably you're downloading the files from that server.
