I have installed and installed a couple of times.
When I double click on the icon nothing happens. I even even tried running the game out of the mole control root directory.

Hi,
be sure that you have the latest driver installed (graphic, sound, chipset).
Temporarily turn of UAC.
Try it again

Those are obvious and I do have the latest and greatest drivers. What is UAC? :(

UAC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Account_Control) and here (http://www.petri.co.il/disable-uac-in-windows-7.htm) is a short tutorial how you disable it.

Also try temporarily shutting down anti virus programs and any 3rd party piece of software you may have installed.
We don't have any direct issues with Windows 7 and 64 bit. We have the game running in the office on a few windows 7, 64 bit systems.
It's a difficult problem to diagnose when the exe won't even launch.

Works fine for me. Windows 7 Ultimate, x64.
You could try running as an admin, or some other compatibility mode?
If not, try disabling UAC (user account control), as suggested above, or DEP (data execution prevention) temporarily.
Also, disable Anti-virus/Firewall/Anti-spyware programs as they frequently do more harm than good when it comes to loading games.
Good luck!

I was having a similar issue, where I would open the program and have it flash a few times then crash. To resolve this I disabled my second monitor. I do not believe the game has support for dual monitors.
The other thing I noticed is that the game only supports a maximum resolution of 1680x1050. I run my primary monitor in a 1920x1080 resolution. It may have something to do with the two combined. If your situation is similar, then we may have a cause.
If you are trying to run dual monitors with the game, I would just try to disable your secondary and see if it begins working properly.

It is telling me "invalid XACT Settings File name"
Perhaps this is due to installing an older version of Directx automatically [I could not prevent] over my WIN 7 Pro Directx?

Then it gives me a million sound errors

Could you clarify that the error message is
'Invalid XACT Settings filename'
and NOT
'Error loading XACT settings file'
You will only get an 'Invalid XACT Settings filename' if there are missing assets. You need to check that 'Sounds.xgs' is located in the 'Assets' folder which should be in the same directory as the 'MoleControl.exe' or reinstall the game.

I am going to uninstall the one from the game developers website and try the Steam version later. I'll inform how that goes later tonight.

Program deleted from drive > ran ccleaner > then rebooted and reinstalled through Steam.
I start the program and the program shows up in the taskbar and then disappears and the Steam window opens to the Molecontrol store page. :o
I have tried to run as admin
I have tried to run in Vista service pack 2 compatibility mode
I have tried to run from the mole control root directory - note that mine is on my E: and not C: drive same as the rest of my Steam games
My Avast is disabled and there is nothing else running
Nothing seems to fix the issue. I am so bummed :confused:

All my other Steam and BigFish games work but yours does not for some reason. :p
I can even run all my other games without disabling or changing any settings. Seriously, if one has to fiddle so much to get the game working isn't that an indication of a problem?

There is another update due to be rolled out very soon which will hopefully fix an XACT sound problem with some windows 7 sound configurations. I suggest if this doesn't fix the issue for you that we give you a build from our website with a key instead.

Well there is my problem. Is there any chance of dual monitor support being added?
Hi,
The dual monitor problem only happens with Windows 7, and is due to how Windows 7 deals with dual monitors when trying to load the game in a resolution different to that of your monitor.
We have noted the problem and will see if we can release a patch for this in the future.

The dual monitor problem doesn't occur if the game is played in windowed mode. However, by default it plays in fullscreen. Is it possible to make the game start up in windowed mode on first run?

Try
right click on game --> properties --> set launch options...
type "-windowed" without the " "

In Windows 7 I had to add it to Target as such:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\mole control demo\MoleControl.exe" -windowed
But it totally worked! Thank you very much! =-)

Nope, no dice here adding -windowed is not working for me.
Starting from a clean shortcut is not helping either, same result.:(
Zaphodikus - Are you using dual monitors?
Sorry you are having problems, we will try to sort it out!
Hi all,
We have found a workaround for this dual monitor/windows 7 problem:
Hit Windows key + p and select 'computer only' which disables the second monitor.
Hope that helps!

So do the devs just not give a rip about this game or something? It's been a year since ejr's post and apparently the game hasn't been updated. I shouldn't have to disable my second monitor to play your crappy game. You should fix your ♥♥♥♥ ups. After all we paid money for it. Never buying a game from such a worthless developer.

Um, this isn't a workaround, it's telling your paying customers "Screw you, we have your money so we aren't going to fix our game."
Devs like you deserve to go bankrupt.

Trying the demo because of the Summer sale and it runs fine on W7 x64 with no dual monitor.
I thought it kept crashing because pressing 'Esc' skips splash screens in other games but exits the game with no message or confirmation in this one.

The issue isn't a single monitor. It's a dual monitor setup that is the issue.
