frame rate drop while recording. over the last few weeks i have done everything i could and taken alls advice on it. so far i have a decent video card now compared to the 8600 gt i was using for a back up while my card was in rma. i cleaned a drive down and record to it now instead of my primary. as for resolution i am running 1280 x 1024 and recording at full as per someone elses advice for quality. i am running game maxed out except for v sync and aa x2. but was just wondering if there was anything else i could squeeze out of my rig for more fps or less slowdown while recording. my cpu is a q9550 and my video card is a 9800 gt. sitting on a 780 i mobo with 4 gigs ram running win 7 64 bit

What are you using to record? If you're using Fraps, slowdowns during recording are pretty much the name of the game. I recommend WeGame instead; videos are considerably smaller, but still good quality, and I've never noticed any impact on my in-game performance. I use a Core 2 Duo E2200 at 2.7GHz, 4GB DDR2-667MHz memory and an 8800GT 512MB GDDR3, also on Windows 7 x64.
Try recording in half-size mode. Unless you really need people to be able to read what you're typing in the text chat, the quality will be just fine.

Never tried Xfire. Who cares about extreme HD quality anyway? If people can see what's going on at an acceptable framerate, it's good enough for them.

appeasement not. every video i posted for criticism has been ruthlessly bashed for quality. then compared with professional editors videos of the same genre.

A 9800GT still isn't fast.

Meh, there's nothing wrong with it. I'm still using an 8800GT, and aside from Crysis, I literally have not found a game that this thing doesn't max out perfectly.
