Just because it has a kill cam, doesn't make it TF2. You competitive players need to go somewhere else. Games are created to be enjoyed, not to be a competitive race to come out on the top.

But if they enable killcams they'll actually have to do something DIFFERENT instead of the same camping spot every time.

Pros have to make the game as easy as possible to show off their pro-ness!

doesnt mean that if you are good you dont enjoy the game. the way you say it make it sound like good players play in leagues and dont have fun

i've enjoyed css since the release and this update sucks ♥♥♥.

if it makes the game more casual, I'm all for it lol. I hate getting pwned. Pros and wannabes should go play 1.6, I don't bother with that one anymore.

Yes until it comes out of beta and everyone destroys the game within months. :D:eek: i for one will be trying to host a non-MODDED server.

Hopefully it tosses out a ton of hackers and hacks.

This game is ground-zero for cheating - cheating for online games was invented for counter strike.

I'm hoping that these changes are coupled with a stringent VAC update that drops that hammer on wallers, botters, etc..
If this happened half the people in the game would have to rebuy it - smart business move valve!

How about you just ignore those, then? :3

Contradiction. People enjoy the competitive part. People also enjoy the moded part which is going to get ♥♥♥♥ed up. With this new update its basically one giant pub game.

O no no no .. WHY no mods ??

The best thing about CSS that we add mods !

I hope they wont remove that FANTASTIC feature

What I'm wishing is STAY on OLD CSS and just make the game more shining like adding new stuff as we see from achievements and other things and NOT just removing.

DON'T FORGET PEOPLE ... Its is just a BETA release ! :D

As long as this new update doesnt ♥♥♥♥ up mods / maps / tools / skins I... well, its the same game but with some polish.

This update just reeks of dirty valve tactics though. Releasing something, to get people lured into the game again, in prep for revealing a new counterstrike in about 3 months. We had the portal update, now this, all we need is the last TF2 update and then we'll get slammed with HL3 HLepisode3 + CSSS and DODSS etc. (SS = supersource)

How is that a problem? Also, you seem to be forgetting that people have been begging for a CSS engine update since EP1 came out, 4 years ago.

People saying all source players that play competitively need to move to 1.6 are ignorant. When you buy a game and learn to play, the first impulse isn't "I want to play this competitively". It's "I want to have fun". Once having fun isn't fun because you're tired of playing with ingame trolls/teamflashers/horribles/hackers in general and wish to play in an organized setting, THAT is where you start scrimming and playing in leagues.

Once you get into a game, you don't want to go learn the older/outdated version just because it's more competitive.

Just because it has a kill cam, doesn't make it TF2. You competitive players need to go somewhere else. Games are created to be enjoyed, not to be a competitive race to come out on the top. They are in every MP game and ruin them for the majority of players. They cling to the mistaken belief that the games exist solely for them and their kind and to hell with anyone else that payed good money for the game also. They remind me of sports players in school who think they are so bad ♥♥♥ when in school because they play sports and are nothing after graduation if they even manage that.

I'm a competitive player, but I don't think the game exists solely for me. The reason people whine about it is because they get attached to the gameplay that they play SO MUCH over a period of time. It's like driving a car, the more you drive it the more you appreciate it. To be honest most of them are probably upset that the game is in a closed beta :(

The only bad thing on that list is the NoMods i think that was a great thing about CSS, you could go in play zombie mode, surf all that nice stuff but now its gone. But they have separate mods for that so that can be easily be gotten over with. But otherwise this is a quality update i will love and enjoy CS fortress(OOPs Counter Strike Source) alot more than before. I never did play alot of CSS except for their zombie servers but i think now ill be enjoying it alot.

I think he was inferring that competitive players were from another planet and should not ruin things for those who aren't as good at the game

Hmm, I am pretty sure CS:S.... wait let me make this easier for you since you really do not understand.

Counter-Strike: Source = Counter-Strike: Source //Runs on Source engine.

Counter-Strike is Counter-Strike. It seems the casual players do not like to see any other suggestions except their own (not stereo typing everyone, just billy over here). It is not fair to tell someone to play a different game, and the one they have always enjoyed is being updated with stuff they do not like. I have played this game since Beta, and I have become attached to it for a good while. I do like the update do not get me wrong, but when the "casual" player is always in mind, their is always going to be conflicts with the people who play the game at a higher skill level. Now why can we not all get along, and actually work out the bugs.... wait a second... nevermind.

If anyone agrees with me, stop fighting and get over it, it is just a game. I play at a competitive level too but you have to remember it is just a game. Valve will work everything out, its still in beta and its the FIRST day. Its all good we just need to chill out...

Thats my wall of text. Suggestions..Comments..Flame?

It's finally safe to say, Counter Strike: Source is now fun.

Just wait man. The whole “Less Pros” thing will be short lived I guarantee it. Once the Pros get some time into the game they’ll figure out the differences and be right back at it again. As far as whiney children go. Just wait to hear all the people in servers “WAAA I hate this new CSS WAAA.” Also all the whiny children will be there to, because they have to be.

That’s why there should be both games, the beta being one and the old one being the other. The pros will stay at home where they like it along with the new whiners. The people that like mods wont complain about not having them. The people who never figured the game out enough to like it, or just got tired of it can go on to the new one. So then everyone is happy, or else the whole whining thing is going to rise to a whole new level. It’s all been said before and no matter what update you give it, it’s all gonna come right back in no time :/

I couldn't agree with you more. But I’m not gonna go as far as to say I’m not stereotyping anyone. Casual gamers just see it as only being good for casual gaming. Because that’s all they want. Competitive gamers see it as both. But like you said. Valve will work it all out and figure out a way to make it enjoyable for both types of gamers. But I think they shouldn’t have limited it to such a small amount of people being able to try it out. That just seems a little unfair. Should have at least doubled or tripled the amount allowed. I didn’t even wake up in time to be able to try it lol.

I think this was a smart idea on Valves part. The new additions should help. Players like FuuKuy stopped playing because it gets old after a while. Things like this is what brings things alive!

I wish they would take the opportunity to cap tickrate at 66. All 100 tick public servers that can't cope with the processing spikes, or that cap rate far to low to allow proper updates, just ruin the game. ♥♥♥♥loads of plugins + too many slots + so-so equipment of many pubbers = unpredictable game play.

Apart from that, if they don't cap tickrate, what they should do is to at least make sure that 100 tick and lower tickrate servers have the same rate of fire for automatic weapons. Without that there is always one argument of the loud "competitive" crowd that can't be beat.

It's finally safe to say, Counter Strike: Source is now fun.

- No Mods: I personally don't like mods but it is a large part of the source community. Shunning those players will no doubt have an impact on the source community as a whole.
- Detailed Statistics: Will make all of source a huge ESEA pug. Stats ♥♥♥♥♥s worrying about their scores.
- Fun Achievements: Having distracting boxes and sounds that pop up...does anyone actually like that, especially for competitive gaming?
- Improved Visuals: A extra drop down box under textures for very high. You got something right. Adding more quality to the textures will be just "eye-candy" for "casual" gamers.
- Less "Pros" and whiny children: Less Pros!? No matter what game you play people are going to be better than you. You think that having a new game will make everybody even? With your reactions and skill, most likely compared to a elephant; slower, you will eventually be left behind and want a new game to come out to feel that you are better than you really are. Less whiny children!? With the attention that this release is getting, more new people are coming to play. You really think that adding more new people to a game will decrease the amount of whiny kids your age?
- More friendly to casual players: Counter strike is one of the most simple fps's out there. You can't get much simpler. Adding bigger buttons and pictures does not make it better. Making a painfully simple game simpler is only asking for trouble.

When you say, "Its finally enjoyable," why would you even care about another UPDATE to the game that you found was not enjoyable?

Just because it has a kill cam, doesn't make it TF2. You competitive players need to go somewhere else. Games are created to be enjoyed, not to be a competitive race to come out on the top.

80% of them competitive players are quite frankly low-skilled and good with the boon-cannon(AWP)and little boon-cannon-sister(DE/desert eagle) they will suck now tbh.

Why do you think there's so much whining going around instead of good steady feedback? All the little ESL/Comp/Clan players are scared to death that they can't exploit the game anymore and actually have to gain some skills now to start making kills.

I agree 100% finally CSS get's an update (every updated before this had nothing to do with fixing the game-play)
