Things change. TF2 should be up soon, by next week hopefully. Just sit back and revel in the glory that is Steam on Mac.

Get Portal for free and enjoy. TF2 is due for an update soon ( we hope ) so they may release TF2 on the Mac along with the Free Weekend and the Update.

I don't even see TF2 in my library. In fact its the only one missing. I guess it might take a few weeks to get the bugs out.

Disappointing, I just wanted to play TF2 and stuff, which was said to be (along with a healthy handful of source games) to be available at launch.
I guess I'll just pretend steam for mac doesn't exist for another month until the games are ready to play ;)
(although - pleasant surprise seeing the Civ IV stuff being ready at launch!)
It's confusing- TF2 doesn't show up in my games list, but L4D, HL2, etc. do. They're unplayable on Mac yet, but they are there... Odd.

things were pretty dicey in the beginning with steam for PC too so give them a month and i'm sure it'll be fine. But I'm really doubting the frame rate is doing to be any better running HL2 engine natively on a Mac Mini as opposed to bootcamp XP.

Yeah, your full games list will show everything you own, regardless if you can actually run it on your platform or not.
Note there's a new "Mac Games" Library view, which only shows the stuff you own that has a Mac version.
I'm assuming TF2's going to launch the same week as the Engineer update, so that they can run a free weekend for it as well.

Hey, it's missing from my list too. If I had to take a guess, I'd say they are still conducting a closed beta of TF2 for Mac. Rather than code something into the client to prevent non-testers from playing they decided to handle it server side by not sending any TF2 data to non-beta testers. It will most likely reappear if you log into Windows Steam.

Read this very carefully (http://store.steampowered.com/news/3808/).

it still does not say why a game which i own does not appear in my games list whether it is availiable to play now, counterstrike is there even though it is not availiable to download.

Do you have "All Games" selected, or just "Mac Games"?

Next Wednesday maybe?
Thanks Burton.
I guess that is the official official list.
The list posted on some news sites had TF2, so I guess that is why there was confusion.

I even thought would right be in Steam on Startup... I even can't see it!
TF2 has been announced as a Steam Play game, so it's just a matter of waiting for them to release it.
Looks I'll be booting into XP for a bit longer...
EDIT: Ninjaed by BurtonJ.

Halflife2.net reported it wrong, by stating that
The Steam Client is now downloadable on Mac from here with Portal, Torchlight, Team Fortress 2, LucasArts classics and Telltale episodics.

The problem is not that i cannot download tf2, I understand that it is not available today. My problem is that i own tf2 and it does not appear on my games list as everyother game that I have purchased is. For example to be clear, counterstrike source is not availiable to play or download, yet it appears in my games list but it says not availiable. Tf2 does not appear in the list as if I don't and never had owned it.

I'm sure it's a display bug and was not removed from our accounts

Don't worry guys, if you have it on PC, you'll have it on Mac (if it's Steam Play compliant)

This is very strange since Mac beta was clearly showing TF2 in my list.
Once again, this is very strange.

I've copied all the files over from my Windows install, spliced them with the Portal binaries, but there's still about 70mb missing. Doing a steam://install/440 won't download the remaining pieces, and launching the game using "hl2.sh -game tf" gives you a missing background error after the intro video. Verifying the integrity of the cache files doesn't work either. So, unless someone can get those 70mb's, you'll just have to wait.

I don't know why Valve purposely likes to keep it's community waiting with false hopes like this. How hard is it for them to say "Team Fortress 2 will not be released this week". They should have just said it last month.

They never said it and if you READ the release they posted it clearly said only Portal (Source Game) would be released first.
Portal, in addition to supporting Steam Play, will be the first of Valve's Source engine based games available on the Mac. Native OS/X support for the Source engine is also available immediately to licensees for use in their games.

There is a reason TF2 is not in your game list. They were planing on releasing it today, but they found a major bug so they pulled it from the game list so people wouldn't download it. It is delayed for a bit.

Thank you for spreading false information
I was playing it last night for a couple hours, seemed to be working fine. I don't know why or how it installed on my machine under the closed beta either, must have been during a small timeframe where it accidentally went live.
They already ported the whole thing, because it installed and played on my Mac, but now it's removed from my library like everyone else.
The actual files are still on my machine, but it refuses to launch, even manually with steam://run/440
