Portal Steamcloud Saves

So I fired up Portal on my Mac Book to try it out. Saved a game a few levels in, and logged out of the mac version. Immediately after logging out I logged into my PC client and launched portal. I saw it sync up and the "Last Played" changed from a few months ago to today. However when I launched the game I didn't find the save game I created.

Does steam cloud just need more time to sync up saved games?

Support for SteamCloud does not necessarily mean your savegames are stored in the cloud. SteamCloud was ORIGINALLY used to save your configuration files so you didn't have to re-map your keys and such every time you installed a game again. The Cloud later supported the ability to actually put save files on the cloud. I doubt Portal was updated to include this feature.

To check this, change your keymaps on one system and save and logout. If you go to your other system the keymaps should be updated.

Actually, I just checked the Steam store page for Portal and it does not mention Steam Cloud at all:

There is a cloud icon next to it in the games list. So it has Steam Cloud support.

Start a new game in Portal, Enable dev console (in keyboard settings) and type in;

changelevel

Then press tab, will tab through all the levels, chose the last level of the game, then save your game. Game thinks you have progressed there so you can chose all the levels before it.

Pressing tab after changelevel doesn't do anything. What is the name of the last level so I can just type it in? Thanks.

Steam Cloud saves your keyboard controls and other options such as in game screen resolution. It doesn't save any game saves that you have.
