It would be amazing if this game could be added onto Steam. I know that PopCap sells it for Mac as well.

Yeah, I'm hoping for this one too. I already have both the Steam PC version and the Mac normal version but I'd love to get some more achievements when playing the Steam for Mac version if it becomes available.

I would have though it would have been available on release. I really hope I don't have to purchase it again.

Yeah I was a little surprised considering Peggle and Bejewelled are available.

This game looks very sweet and cute. I would not mind trying it if it ever gets steam support :) Would not mind to get most of my games under steam.

They have probably decided to spread the release of their games across multiple Wednesday releases in order to maximise the exposure of their individual titles. Games released later may miss the initial buzz but will be more prominently featured in the New Releases section later on - at the moment all 63 games are "new" so it's easy to get lost in the crowd. I'm confident Plants vs Zombies will be available in the Mac Steam store soon.

Yea I figured the marketing strategy was something like this. I am not bothered, I can easily wait.

I just sucks as I purchased it, so I would have it when steam got released. I thought they said popcap games would be available.

Not all of them I suppose

If something between PopCap and Valve has been established for another of their games on Mac then I'm sure Plants vs Zombies has been at least thought of.

I've actually been putting off buying Plants vs. Zombies because I knew Steam was coming; I want to buy through Steam to help show that Mac is a viable game platform.

Also, then my Steam friends can see my PvZ achievements. :D

I love this game. Lots of fun for people of all ages!

What would be sweet is if they updated it to run at more than 800x600 res.

It's ridiculous that the freakin' iPad version is higher res than the desktop. It's 2010 yall.

I have used Plants Zombies here on my Win XP but it wont work on my Grandsons computer with Win XP as the Mouse Flickers and locks up the Computer.
Anyone have an answer to the problem.
Thanks

If they give us PvZ tonight then I'll finally make the leap and buy it.

I wouldn't be surprise when Valve stages a "zombie" themed release wednesday with both Left4Deads and PvZ (and possibly some other zombie games).

I must admit that I'm a little surprised that the Mac version still isn't available on Steam. It's obviously got nothing to do with any issues PopCap might have with SteamPlay licencing since Peggle is SteamPlay-enabled. I'm fantasising that the delay is because they're upgrading the game and want a bigger bang release, rather than an after-the-fact update. The most obvious feature being higher resolution graphics and, since I'm dreaming I may as well dream big, Valve-inspired Easter eggs similar to Peggle Extreme (http://store.steampowered.com/app/3483/) (Windows only)!

- HL head-crab zombies
- all manner of nasties from L4D
- TF2 heavies as 4-pea shooters
- TF2/Portal turret as 2-pea shooters
- HL2 striders instead of pole-vaulters
- HL2 pheromone pod throwers as cabbage-pults which can be used in combination with ant hills (wall nuts)
- portals instead of garlic (c.f. "portal combat" mini-game)
- Zombie-fied Gordon Freeman as a gargantuar who smashes his way through your defences with a crowbar
- Man-in-black with suitcase as grumpy-old-man zombie

The game writes itself! I'd hate to have to balance it though!

Is it certain it will come to Steam Mac? Or is it just a rumor?

I contacted PopCap's customer support, they said all of their Mac games would be on Steam "soon".

Make sure you have the latest video drivers for your card installed, along with the latest version of DirectX. Try turning on/off 3D acceleration in the game as well and see if that helps.

They'll have to modify codebases to allow for Steam Achievements, Steamplay and being compatible with existing Windows versions. But it'll be worth it when it happens.

I can go out and buy PvZ in Best Buy, and it works on my Mac, so why doesn't it work steam?

It doesn't make sense, they have all those peggle games on mac. Unless they're lazy, I can't see a reason why they wouldn't have PvZ.

I'll send them an email asking why they haven't done so yet.

Because they're probably still working on it and it's not ready yet to have the Mac version with Steam Achievements.
