View Full Version : Question to Mac users regarding the content files

I was wondering if Steam for Mac uses GCF files just like the Windows client does. Although the Mac version of Portal mostly likely shares its resources (maps, textures, models) with Windows, it probably uses a different executable, which is contained within the "source 2007 binaries 2.gcf" file. Do Mac users also have this file, or is it completely replaced with some other, Mac-related GCF file?

I'd be really grateful if someone could post a screenshot of their /Steam/steamapps/ folder. Here's how it looks like in Windows: http://i44.tinypic.com/ztvrzm.png

You can reuse everything except the binaries.
I'd show you how mine looks, but I'm unfortunately in Windows right now.

It's the same deal, except "source 2007 mac binaries.gcf".

The binaries get extracted into a directory named after your steam ID, and get executed in there.

How can you have a common folder? I don't see any NCFs.
