Hi, I just thought I'd share a few tips for getting a better experience out of Steam for Mac.
Add "~/Documents/Steam Content" to the Privacy tab of Spotlight in System Preferences. That folder has all the games that Steam installs, but you can't launch directly from those files. Instead, when you install a game tell Steam to create an application shortcut which will sit in ~/Applications and be able to launch the games directly from Spotlight
Sometimes the icon of the application shortcut that Steam creates is a generic Steam icon. Most 3rd party games will also have a normal application bundle in "~/Documents/Steam Content/common". To fix the icon of the shortcut, select the application bundle and copy it with the Edit → Copy menu item. Then select the shortcut application that Steam created and click the File → Get Info menu item. In the window that opened, click the generic Steam icon in the top left (it should get a blue highlight around it) and Click the Edit → Paste menu item. The icon will now be correct in Finder. Unfortunately, the icon in Spotlight searches still shows the generic icon, but I believe logging out and in or restarting your Mac fixes that.
Hope this helps, if anybody else has any tips to share please do. A big congratulations and thank you to Valve and their excellent team for bringing Steam to Mac.
