When trying to continue my Portal game download, I get a "validating game files" pop-up that goes away in about 3 seconds, then immediately after that I get a message the says the "Steam servers are too busy to handle your request. Try again in a few minutes". So I do and I get the same message. I've been getting this same message since Wednesday.
When I first downloaded Steam the portal downloaded started no problem, but them Steam itself froze up and I had to restart my computer. After that I haven't been able to get the download to start again.
When looking at my "library" under Portal it just says "download starting" but nothing ever starts. I like it sit for nearly 12 hours yesterday and nothing happened.
I've never had this message before when using the PC version of Steam, so I don't know if the servers really are that busy or if there's some other problem.
If it helps any my specs are:
2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
GeForce 8600M GT 128MB
