2009 Macbook Pro, Civ Unplayable

I have a late 2009 Macbook Pro 17" 500GB HD, 4G Ram and the dual 9400/9600 video cards. I can play BTS for about 10 minutes and then I begin to get freezing, glitching, graphical errors and screen tearing. It freezes PC-style to where I can't exit out or hard quit the game and I have to completely reboot. Looks like it's not overheating as I'm not crossing the 70 degree Celsius mark on my GPU.

Not sure what the problem is but I know it shouldn't run this way. Any suggestions/similar problems? I hope I didn't spend $40 for this...

Might try over on the Mac forums :).

It's playing okay on my 2009 Macbook Pro, the 13" one with the 9400M GPU but no 9600 GPU. Perhaps try disabling the 9600 GPU and see what happens? Yes, you'll need to turn down the graphics options to get reasonable performance, but it will at least let you know whether it's a 9600 problem...
