Portal isn't granting achievements

I have the fully powered Portal gun and I've incinerated the Companion Cube. Still no achievement for those or for anything else...

When I hit "ESC" and go to achievements the game tells me I need to login. I am logged in.

i sort of have the same problem but with the camera achievement. it keeps deleting how many cameras i destroyed.

The cameras one you have to do in one sitting, at-least I had to. My number kept resetting even though I saved games.
